<watching the social media phenomenon of "We Don't Talk About Bruno">

<takes note:> "They really like multiple countermelodies in counterpoint." <hands note to Wondrous musical director>

This moment in the show has genuinely occupied my mind for the past few days since it debuted. Major kudos to Christopher Lennertz who composed/arranged the music for Wondrous Journeys.

Quick question: I couldn't help but notice when I search for "Wondrous Journeys" in the Disneyland app that there are two entries: "with Fireworks" and "with Projections". Over the weekend the "with Fireworks" had showtimes, but "with Projections" did not. Today, it has been reversed..."with Fireworks" has no showtimes, but "with Projections" is at 9:30pm.

Is there a difference? Are the fireworks removed or toned down for shows during the week?

Yes. WJ runs without fireworks on weekdays (M-Th) and on days where weather does not permit it. WJ with fireworks runs F/Sat/Sun. Was part of an effort by DLR to be "better neighbors" with Anaheim residents, though I'm sure they also appreciate the cost savings associated with purchasing fewer shells.

Thanks! Is this new for WJ? On all of my past DL trips, I don't recall there being a time when the fireworks/projection show wasn't scheduled and didn't have fireworks unless it was for wind/weather reasons. Of course, my timing of those trips may have been such that I didn't encounter the M-Th no-fireworks plan.

Only during the off season. Fireworks were always only Weekend only during this period, but they've started adapting the shows at Disneyland to still offer something during the week.

During major seasons (Spring Break, Summer, Christmas), fireworks are usually always every evening (weather permitting).

eta: @habuma - this should answer your question just above.

Now before I get too excited about a recent Disney offering, I will say: the most disappointing part of this show is its poster (I don't think WJ officially has a poster, but this graphic is the closest they have to one and is everywhere on the Disney Parks blog). Just awful. Look at it compared to HEA!

I actually like the poster, if that’s even the official poster. The unassuming/non cliché things that Disney sometimes does is very welcoming. This is why I liked the folksy sound of the rendition of “It’s Wondrous” that was performed at D23 last year. It sounded nothing like a Disney park show tune. Even “Wondrous Journeys” isn’t too cliché-sounding, unlike Magical (I love that firework show, but the name…😬). This poster only has a few beginning sketches of Mickey and the castle with a very basic font: you’d never assume every Disney movie from the Studios is in it, which I like.

I honestly hope they continue this trend, but I get why some may not like it.

Fair! I think the concept is strong for exactly why you mentioned it, but I really don't like the execution between the closely cropped castle, the fireworks being barely visible as a result of screening out on white, and the off-center-but-not-off-center-enough title text. I might try my hand at redoing the poster when I have time because I really would love hang something up at home.

Please share when you finish!

I wish this was the case for something like Fantasmic! but it being weekend-only during the "off-season" is just a cost-saving thing.

1 mins of pyro at the end of the show is barely anything. And when the 2.0 show even first debuted in 2017, it featured silent launchers for the pyro, so there was barely any noise (pollution).

There's really no reason why guests should have no real nighttime spectacular at DL during the off-season besides $. But hey, at least there was Mickey's Mix Magic dance party on Main Street.

I also think WoC over at DCA is louder. Those powerful fountains are very loud from a distance lol

Love it! I kind of just thought they were weaving in the butterflies from Encanto during Dos Oruguitas, cool to know the "manifestation" they are for.
I remember when they announced this at D23, noticing the butterflies and being confused. I hope Disney continues to incorporate more of these metaphorical/abstract ideas that are not common in Disney shows. The butterfly is subtle, but welcoming.

Yeah, I noticed it throughout. Helping with transitions, providing bits of magic.

A nice little piece of animation to tie things together.

Rafferty, Baxter, and Rohde didn't design shows they designed parks, lands, and rides.
No…. They designed attractions. Just like Davison does. They are all imagineers and they are all the best of the best.

I’d put up Cars Land to Avatar land any day. I think Rafferty is right up there with them.
