Wonders of Live Pavilion

In all seriousness though, Cranium Command is one of my favorite attractions, and I mourn its loss... Quietly.... Alone.... In a corner

I'm always sitting in the back row rooting Buzzy on, at least in spirit. I'm glad I got one last 3-hour visit to Wonders of Life in December 2006. Here's hoping for a Cranium Command 2.0 next door to Horizons 2.0...

I read in Birnbaum's 2008 Disney guide that the Wonders of Life pavilion is open during busy times of the year. When? You never know. There was also some more about it but I can't remember word for word.

Nope. I'm pretty sure the attractions there have been boarded up/gutted. It's now the "Wonders of Special Events."

I wish they would keep it closed. I really really do not like that pavilion. They need to tear it down and do something new and fresh. Just my IMO.

I'm in the corner rocking back and forth with you Ender.

I think Cranium Command was one of the most underrated attractions ever.

If only we could get a bandwagon of bitterness started for the removal of Cranium Command like some other attractions have...

That was as of 06. Signage and all queue's have been removed. What remains of rides behind the scenes is uncertain...but there is no return from this grave.

I'm pretty sure I've read that the only ride persay that is still intact is Body Wars but that's about it which is sad. Tons of fun in that Pavilion just too bad a lot of people didn't know about it.

If you're talking "rides," the pavilion only had one actual ride - Body Wars. Attractions-wise, though, The Making of Me, Goofy About Health, and the Anacomical Players could be reinstated in no time, as their theaters are all still there (or were as of October 2007). Only the signing is missing. My guess is that the same might be true for Cranium Command and Body Wars, too. They've walled them off so no one can get into them, but so far I haven't seen any proof they've actually removed the attractions themselves. I considered trying to sneak into Cranium Command back in October, but thought better of it...
In truth, the only things that really appear to have been gutted in there were the interactive setups like Sensory Funhouse and the stationary bikes.

That would be cool!!! I would love that and they could do a lot with it. They could do 'Presentation Earth'. Weather, green stuff, plants, and medical could be part of it.

On a side note, why doesn't the mobile turn anymore? When is the last time it was turned on?

With Jiminy Cricket as their Environmentality Host - that would be cool. :)

I was thinking about the Weather pavilion presented by the Weather Channel! in the old Wonder of Life. And I hope this will be official. I hope!

Interestingly, The Weather Channel is reportedly up for sale by it's private owner, and among the companies believed to be placing private bids for it is Disney.

I walked through there the other day, and there must have been about 20 people inside.

I was shocked, that's probably the most people that have been in that building at the same time in 10 years.

The Fam. went to WOL on New Years Eve 06/07 and there were maybe 20-30 people. I watched the making of me with 2 other people. I like the place, wife and kids, Not.

I was in there on Thursday last week and there were maybe 15 people around and the parks were full. They only had plant and flower exhibits in there though and everything has been changed since WOL closed.

Disney owns the Discover Channel, yes?

IMO Mythbusters has jumped the shark, but it could still be cool to see a Discovery Pavillion. You go to watch a Mythbusters episode being filmed; things go terribly wrong; voila, a Honey-I-Shrunk-the-Audience type of 3-D attraction with explosions, Buster, et. all. Then, a hand's-on area where you can work with computers to do simulated experiments, construct things, etc. A Lego lab where you can program your own robot.

Yep, I could see lots of potential with a physics based pavillion.

Body Wars is essentially ripped up. The simulators are still there, but they've been toyed with over the last 6 months in ways that go beyond just a mere tune up. The work thats been done to the insides was described to be as "irreversible."

Mind you, the work is for something else that we've been waiting for (I know I have), so that at least should appease those angry about Body Wars' loss.

Personally, I more torn up about the retirement of Captain Buzzy and General Knowledge... :(

Testing for Star Tours?

Body Wars vehicles are quite literally identicle to Star Tours vehicles, so that makes sense.

However - what did they do to them? Ther's really not much to the cabin itself aside from plastic paneling and the seats. The films loop around the back of the vehicle and the little motors and stuff are under the walkway for the first row. I suppose they could have torn that all up..

The vehicles were essentially an available blank template to modify by any means WDI saw fit. The modifications were more audio/visual based, but the work to do installs and changes was enough to put Body Wars out of commission for good.
