Considering Marvel began in 1961, weathered bankruptcy and is now the most successful Superhero Film Franchise critically and commercially....
Yes...I'll bet you in 10 years people will care.

I would also argue that Star Wars, for being in a huge galaxy, is best when its a very limited story...which is a strange thing to say. Fans don't really seem to want a story that doesn't include Stormtroopers, Skywalkers, Solos and the like.

Its a meme, but the Rogue One review Red Letter Media did hits the nail on the head, when they intro it by just acting like idiots screaming "TIE FIGHTERS! AT-ST, AT-ST! XXXXXXXXX-WWWWIIIINGSSS!!!!!!" Its weird that with a setting so vast, there is almost zero room for growth and expansion. Last Jedi tried to break away from all that and got destroyed by fans for it. I firmly believe, that had Last Jedi been "Sci Fi" movie and not "STAR WARS!" it would be held up as a really great movie. As it stands, its a really good movie, but a horrible Star Wars movie.

I don't think the movie had much to do with the merch decline (I loved it and so did many others, but let's not rehash that debate) it's that the merch was pretty poor this year. My 7 year old is an avid collector of star wars toys and a huge fan - loved the movie. However this is the first Christmas in memory he didn't want any star wars toys (with the exception of a lego Millennium Falcon that he's wanted for a while), because he thought that there "weren't any good toys this year". He's hoping that there will be better stuff for Solo and Ep IX.

My point being, (and its not to rehash the movie debate, as reasonable star wars fans seem to disagree on this one) the quality of merch matters, and this year it was just bad product. I think that has a lot more to do with the poor merch sales than whether or not Last Jedi was good or not, and whether or not the market is saturated. If avid fans like my son don't want any of the toys, there's a problem with the toys.

The problem is that Disney sees 'Star Wars' as a BRAND, Not as a cultural phenomenon so now even the toys are cheap and lazy.

Merchandising.... Mel Brooks nailed it

Considering after the last so called 'Star Wars' movie the fans began not to care, The next 'Star Wars Story' teed up seems to have suit created flop written all over it as the suits are busy overruling the creatives... I see Marvel traversing the same road which can be described as follows

'Why am I in this basket??? and why is it getting so hot???'

Quick question about the WOL roof work. Were the original gold panels the same aluminum/poly composite material used in Spaceship Earth? If so, are they just cleaning the panels or painting over them?

So...your opinion is now considered the majority fact?
As for your "next Star Wars" movie is set to flop, SOLO is tracking (according to Variety) a $150 Mil opening weekend.

And you say you see Marvel "traversing the same road"...based on what? Because they have to or you would be wrong??
You provide ZERO facts or figures to back up your assertions.

I show you 10 years of proven, factual and organized success by Marvel and you show me your fact-free opinion as your foundation of debate?

You lost the game before it even started.

It's my opinion nothing more.

Yet Star Wars merchandise sales continue to fall, No one in my circle of friends has plans to see the movie after they had all pre-bought tickets to TLJ, Disney has sucked the value out of the Star Wars brand. even before SWL opens.

Unlike you Disney is not my religion, Wake me up when WDW begins to care about the guest again.

I saw the trailer for Solo and I'm not excited. If you look at his character as some random guy flying with Chewie and not a younger Han, the movie won't seem as bad. Now, to get this thread on track and not delete this post. Wonders of Life. That is all.

Well someone mentioned in another thread making a Black Panther themed ride and since Star Tours is supposedly closing once SWGE opens, they could move the simulators over to WoL where Body Wars was and create a new 3D experience attraction. This could be accomplished quite easily with existing buildings, ride cars and tech. plus I suppose it would mesh well with the GoTG ride next door in UoE (though I would rather the Mouse not turn Future World into Marvel World). Not saying they should just saying they could!

No one with insider knowledge has given any hint that Black Panther or Wakanda is going anywhere in WDW.

It's all fanboi wish fulfillment.

And if WoL is indeed being prepped for an attraction, it won't be the Star Tours vehicles since they're slated to stay in DHS for at least a year after SWL opens.

I'm aware of that.
The thread I was speaking of was asking what rides one would like to see added to the parks.
Sorry should have mentioned that at in the beginning.

Everyone in my circle of friends plans to see it so that means the Star Wars franchise is fine. ;)
