This is why we can't have nice things. Michigan woman Sarah Deming has filed a lawsuit against FilmDistrict, the distributor of Nicolas Winding-Refn's DRIVE, claiming the studio used "misleading marketing" in promoting the film, making her believe it was "very similar to the Fast and Furious" movies.

"DRIVE bore very little similarity to a chase, or race action film… having very little driving in the motion picture," said Deming in the suit. She's looking for her money back and an end to the practice of studios cutting misleading trailers.

There are so many comments to be made here, I hardly know where to start. It's a lawsuit only Lionel Hutz could dream up (any lawsuit meant to get back $10 is completely frivolous) and somewhere some lawyers and judges are wasting their time dealing with this. Hell, I'm wasting my time writing about this! I'm suing Sarah Deming for being an idiot and wasting my time this morning...

Misleading trailers have been and will always be a problem. But was it really a problem with DRIVE? Did anyone, other than this woman, actually think that DRIVE was going to be like FAST AND FURIOUS?

Well, good luck Sarah Deming, on your mission to get your money back and change the way Hollywood marketing operates. Oh and I look forward to your lawsuit against the theater showing EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE because you sat in the back of the theater and the audio was a little quiet.

I don't get how she could not have enjoyed Drive for what it was. That movie was excellent.

Also there is a brief showing of a slick Fast and Furious very slightly like car chase in the trailer. The rest is Ryan Gosling starting off as calm, then going ballistic and brutally beating the crap out of people in a way that was not very Fast and Furious-like.

Oh well, God forbid a movie has some characterization and plot development between the action....

If we're allowed to sue for movie letdowns, then M. Night Shyamalan's gonna hear it from me for every film he's made after Signs.

I can't decide if it's nice to have so little going on in your life that you have time for crap like this or just sad.
