Woman Rushed To Hospital Unconcious After Riding Disney Rollercoaster

My BP is borderline high and I ride M:S. While on my first ride, looking to the side made me want to pass out. Only ever felt slightly dizzy/nauseous after that. If I die, I would want it to be at WDW anyway.

Reading that article has led me to this conclusion: people need to consider their health problems before riding a thrill ride. Nobody seems to think about it. This is the result.

True, but very often people don't even know they have these conditions (or don't know the severity of them) until it's too late...

Space Mountain has not reopened since this morning and will probably not resume operations tonight. FastPass was disabled as soon as it went down.

Yeah, we got there around noon and by the time we got over to Tomorrowland, the ride had been shut down. We left just before 9 PM and it was still down. The crowds seemed to be extra thick yesterday for some reason. It was less crowded the last time we went on a Saturday during Spring Break season.

My prayers go out to the lady and her family. I hope she will be ok.

Disney will be fine. I'm sure they have some crazy liability insurance for this kind of thing. Honestly I'm more worried about the woman and her family than the wealthy corporation.

A lawsuit would be baseless anyway. Disney puts up plenty of warning signs about heart conditions, etc. It's a well known fact that grief can turn to anger, so I understand why these lawsuits happen. (honestly it's the ambulance chasing lawyers who prey on this that I can't stand)

My career is in commercial insurance. I can tell you chances are no insurer would give Disney parks a liability policy. Also it would be cost prohibitive to Disney to purchase one. They would spend more per year in premium if they didn't have a fatality or permenant disability claim. As someone else stated they are big enough that they self insure

I wonder how many people rushed to the TTA Peoplemover to get pictures of Space Mountain with the lights on...

Ha, me. Though I'd have done the TTA next anyway. I was actually in the load area for SM when this happened, though all we knew at the time was that they'd cut the power to Alpha because of some issue.

I hope the woman's all right!

The bad thing about this is if she does make it she will probably blame Disney and the ride and sue. If she doesn't make it the family will probably blame Disney and the ride and sue. Either way Disney gets screwed.

I think thats a huge part of the reason they post all the "do not ride if you have Heart, back issues" signs everywhere..It will at least lessen Disney's Liability in these situations. Its sad reguardless that someone that young died but there must have been some pre-existing circumstance.

My 70 year old father was on vacation at Disney in march...He is in great shape and takes good care of himself.
He went on every ride multiple times and on the flight home he began to feel ill.

We rushed him to the emergency room the next day only to find out that he had an aneurysm. Never any signs of an issue.

So you are right on with that statement.

Sad but stuff happens. And it can happen to any of us. Unless something happened to me at a Disney park that was total gross negligence I could not bring myself to sue them.and that goes for anywhere else.

I have played paintball and airsoft for over 20 years. I have been hurt several times but realized everytime I got hurt it was usually my fault or just happenstance that I did get hurt. Nobody ever got sued.

Stuff......................happens.

Don't dare twist this on me. I hope she recovers, but the way people are sue happy these days doesn't make the situation any easier for all of us. Any actions that takes place after the fact will surely affect both Disney and anyone that vacations there.
