Woman claims to be assaulted while watching happily ever after

You folks have the right idea! If you want to watch the fireworks/projections straight on with a perfect view, there are dozens of Youtube videos for that (thanks to the fact that everybody who sees these shows seems to labor under the delusion that they're the first one to think of recording it)! The fireworks provide the perfect opportunity to enjoy attractions with a gorgeous backdrop and next-to-no lines. During Happily Ever After this past Friday, we rode 7DMT 3 times in a row, with the music, lights and fireworks adding plenty of magic. :)

(Full confession: We do this with parades and other nighttime entertainment, too. My family would rather skip a parade or show, and enjoy a dip in wait times, than jostle for space in the heat with the Abners of the world trying to elbow their way in.)
We got a great view of HEA and Wishes from the Peoplemover. There was NO ONE there so we rode by ourselves 3 times before we got off. Caught the big fireworks and everything with our feet kicked up!

I really don't understand the need to take a video of the fireworks. They are so much more exciting to witness in person with the noise and the vibration of the loud booms. I would have no interest in watching them on a 4" screen.

But then how are people going to show off, brag, and facetweet about how cool they are?

Some people do not get enjoyment in the moment, they get more enjoyment capturing the moment, to show everybody else what they did, to invoke envy.

Alcohol in the other parks, eh whatever

MK is a unique combination of crowds, strollers, and high expectations

Alcohol is not going to help the atmosphere

It sure does to me. (What strollers?)

Instead a cast member should have been near by to quickly calm everyone down which as former security takes about 5 seconds to calm down a situation.

Big difference between “a cast member” and security. You don’t ask a $9/hr. worker to put themselves in harm’s way.

You pay trained security a lot more for that.

Not harms way. They werent swinging. People will usually snap out of it if anyone in official clothing at any place just walks over. If it escalates they step away and radio in. A simple is everything ok will usually deesculate the situation immediately. If not you get a manager.

I don't think this women was "assaulted" as she claims, with my experience I have a feeling there is a whole lot more to the story and the poster was doing some serious overreacting. My guess is they ate and sauntered out and stood in front of people who had probably been sitting and waiting for half an hour or more, and he probably asked them to move several times before he snapped.
Without knowing all the details I know I would never go stand in front of people that are sitting and most likely had been sitting for awhile to watch the show.. I would find another place to watch the show. The benches were made for sitting, the rails are not there so people can stand at them.

That last part about the rails may not necessarily be true. It all depends on what that walkway is designated as for parades/fireworks. If standing is not allowed at the rails during shows, then I'd think the CMs would be there ushering people along like they do along Main Street and the hub. If standing along the rails is allowed, I wouldn't expect to sit on a bench at the "back" of the pathway and expect an unobstructed view. Even if it is only a walking path with no standing allowed, I'd expect a constant stream of people passing in front of me.

Please note, I'm not passing judgment on the alleged incident that started this thread. I'm just giving my opinion on standing in areas where there may be benches.
