WL vs CSR

Sorry in advance in hijack your thread for a second @HouCuseChickie but I'm a bit confused about one thing at CSR. I've read that it's not completely owned by WDW, is this just referring to the business center, @Buzz2001 ?

I've often been curious about that too...I know none of the Disney bakeries deliver custom cakes to CSR b/c of something related to your inquiry. Just not sure about all of the particulars.

I know a lot of people would say the choice is obvious, but there are a number of things I'm seeing - at least in picture form- that are making CSR look attractive. Still, says a lot when people such as yourself have stayed at both and feel strongly that WL is the right choice. Thanks!

Anything specific that turned you off to CSR? Or is it just that WL is just a more convenient and comfortable stay?

And that's one of my big concerns...bus service. Of course, we had pretty bad bus service on our last stay at WL; however, we'd be using the boat much more this trip due to our schedule. Transportation and location convenience have always been big to me.

Never personally stayed at WL and I don't think that CSR is a bad resort....I've just heard nothing but positive things about WL. Plus, its location right by MK sounds like it would be more convenient for your ADR's.

That is very true. It's a heck of a lot easier to make a 7am at Chef Mickey's via the WL early boat vs. playing games with early morning buses or cabs from CSR.

This is a good time to interject my thoughts. As an experienced Disney visitor like you knows, bottom line, you know your priorities. Ours are price, location relative to all Parks, bus service and pool. CSR was a great decision to us, and we'd stay there again.

Just list yours and let the resorts fight it out.

The only reason my family isn't staying at CSR next time is because we simply want to try a different resort just to see other options. I don't expect it to be terribly better or worse, just different.

I have to chuckle at the "bus stop was far" comment.
#1. There are 5 bus stops on the property and at the most you're looking at a 1000ft. walk to the nearest stop regardless of where your room is. The walk from the MK main gate to Cinderella's Castle is farther than it is from any CSR room to the closest bus stop. Is that "too far" of a walk to watch one of the multiple shows they put on there?
#2. How can anyone complain about a short walk from a room to a bus stop when you're spending a week at DW? The typical family probably walks 60+ miles on a 7 day trip. LOL!
4 bus stops but I agree with you. one in each village and the one at the main building.

CSR is completely owned by Disney but the business center is operated by Ikon Business Solutions and the restaurants are operated by Palma Services, the same company that operates all the Mexican pavilion restaurants at Epcot.

I absolutely love CSR!
I can't afford WL and would rather go to a mod to save some cash so I can't comment on WL. Although I've been there for dinner and it's beautiful.

However, we never had any trouble with busses at CSR and like some have said there are several bus locations so wherever your room is you will not have a long walk. CSR is very serene and quiet.

Like you mentioned in your first post the room are lovely! My fav mod is PO purely for its grounds and theming but I preferred CSR's rooms over PO.

I know everyone will say "duh, WL is a deluxe so it's already better." That may be true, but I always find it fun to try something new. Since you've been to WL, why not try a new place.
It really is very beautiful and nice. I don't think one persons bus rant should detur you. All resorts have bus issues at time to time. Heck we splurged to stay one night at Boardwalk because it was my dream to stay there even if it was just one night. For the price I was shocked that they stopped at Swan and Dolphin to pick up. I wasn't angry or anything, just surprised that people spend that type of money and it shares. CSR has its own but obviously that is your only mode of transportation.

While I think CSR looks very nice (never stayed, just viewed pictures on Buzz's site), my favorite remains the WL. The ambiance of the timber-framed lodge, surrounding woods, and view of Bay Lake are wonderful. I get to watch the Electric Water Parade, take the boat to/from MK, and can take the boat to the Contemporary for monorailing. I love walking the trail to Fort Wilderness and the waterfall into the pool. It is simply the first choice for me.

CSR, though, looks like it has a great path for walking around its lake and it is centrally located for easy bus service. I wish that it had trails to walk to EPCOT or DHS but that is a small hiccup. The rooms look inviting as well.

We are currently booked in a bunk bed woods view room at Wilderness Lodge, but I'm thinking about changing over to Coronado Springs. Obviously, WL is more expensive being that it is a deluxe, but it would be much more convenient for a number of our ADRs and our MK days. We've also stayed there before and while it's not my favorite, I know the rest of the family really enjoys it. On the flip side, at least from the pictures I've seen- I really like the rooms at CSR more and their pool looks really awesome (we do have pool time factored into at least one -maybe 2 days no the trip). However, we've never stayed at a mod before, so I'm afraid about the resort feeling huge and the bus travel time being an issue.

There are obviously pros and cons to staying at each one. So, I'm asking for your help either...

...talking me into sticking with WL
OR
...talking me into switching to CSR

Thanks for helping with my insanity ;):D:)
If youre planning on spending a great deal of time at MK, then Id say stay at WL. I love the boat ride to and from the MK from WL. The resort just seems so quiet when arrive at night after a long day at MK. Very relaxing! Our kids love the bunk beds no matter we we have had them. So BB are a big hit for us! They also love the pool. We have only stayed at CS, and that was several years back for thanksgiving. We liked it and there. Pool was nice. The bar was very cool, but Id stay at WL before CS.

Two things in your post got me thinking...
1. While we haven't tried a mod, I always thought I'd start with POFQ or PORS...just so many glowing reviews.
2. Staying someplace new is usually one of the biggest keys to keeping it fresh...at least for me.

#1 is significant because I just won't stay there this time around. Nothing against the PO resorts, but we're going to New Orleans next month and I don't like doing the real thing on top of doing the Disney version. Then DH and I started talking and while he likes WL, he agreed that trying new things could make it more fun for him. So, that brought us back to CSR until I thought back to my discussion with the kids. They don't know anything about this trip, but I asked them for some opinions "just in case." Bunk beds were top of their wish list, so new to us, non-new Orleans with bunk beds = AKL. I know...I've officially lost it! :D

Also, a big thank you to @Buzz2001 !!!! Your site is wonderful! Even if we skip CSR this time, I see a stay there at some point in our future (really love the blues in the room against the dark wood + the pool)...and your site is going to be an even bigger help then! Love all of the info to help with room requests on there too! :)

I agree. We try to plan it so we are close to our resort or just take a cab. Some of those cakes are huge. One bus ride from the GF to the YC with a cake was enough

I was very thankful to have my vehicle there last trip...it's a lot easier to go from the Contemporary to YC with a cake when you're in your own ride. I am going to try something a bit different this trip...and it's kinda nuts! ;)

We don't go through enough cake by having it in the fridge back at the room, so I'm going to bring a tupperware container...pack up my leftover cake in there before heading out for Epcot...and to save on snacking for the day...we're going to snack on cake all day. We are a party of 9 though, so maybe we won't have as much cake. It might also cut down our middle of the day dining needs....although, I'd still like to pop over to DHS so we can have a snack at Sci Fi...just to get to hang out in there a bit.

I agree to hold off on PO if you are going to New Orleans. The only reason I like it so much is that it is just a gorgeous place. I still think Coronado feels more "deluxe" then PO without being deluxe.
I definitely think you need to try something new so if that means AKL to keep within the deluxe category then I think you should do it!!!!

Yes those rooms with the blues are beautiful. We are staying in club level in December and from Buzz's site it looks like those rooms are more browns and a little more drab.

Oh well I'll still love it!!
