With Disney buying Marvel what park in WDW will be impacted by this?

Just out of curiosity, were you a comic fan back in your day? or are you just excited that Disney finally got a fresh shot in the arm? :D

Nope not a comic book fan. But I always understood the genre and how it could transition to TV and movies. And that was finally realized recently.

I always wanted to see a proper depiction of Batman and the last two movies fulfilled that perfectly. I just always knew it had that potential. As do other characters.

Finally, as you know I'm not a fan of TL at the MK and want it changed to sci-fi city or some other new and original idea/concept. Marvel is perfect for it. I'd say the same if it was DC comics. I'm just tired of a land with no coherence.

And what the heck does "back in your day" mean? I'm not that old. :dazzle:

So, the news coming out today is that the Disney/Marvel agreement includes a clause that prevents Disney from putting any Marvel character in any of their parks "East of the Mississippi River". So that pretty much snuffs out any possibility of WDW getting a Marvel character or ride in any Orlando park.

But, Disneyland Resort is west of the Mississippi, and that leaves the existing Anaheim parks plus the land for the third theme park in Anaheim on the table for Marvel Character attractions or entertainment.

So maybe this thread should be moved over to the Disneyland board?

No that was not the news. The news was any theme park contracts may have had a clause that renders them null and void if Marvel was sold to another company.

But also, at worst, WDW is only prohibited from using the characters from IoA, not all marvel properties.

It is a bit complicated, isn't it? But it appears to favor Marvel theme park development west of the Mississippi.

This Sun Sentinel article sums it up best regarding East Coast vs. West Coast theme parks, although it's still a bit vague as to just what Disney can get away with. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/orl-disney-marvel-universal-090209,0,7213696.story

Let's go HOKIES!:sohappy:

This is a bit of random question for this thread, but what happens to an attractions cast members when a attraction gets refurbed e.g what are the SM cast members up too whilst it is down?

They are typically re-allocated elsewhere in the same line of work. If their attraction is being refurbed, they typically go to another attraction. If their restaurant is being refurbed they go to another restaurant.

I am not a big comic book person, but after reading about everyone's thoughts the idea of Disney buying Marvel has me stoked! I am excited to see what happens both in (hopefully) and out of the parks!!!

And to Sir Goofy - GO HOKIES!!! It is going to be a looong night!!!
