We have 5 more weeks 'til Speing break, then 5 more weeks of school after that!
That's wonderful!
Hi Freddy!
I would love to go to Vermont during foliage season - I've only been there once. Actually, I was looking into going to Maine next summer. I found an awesome website that talked about going on whale watching tours - I think that would be so cool.
I also understand about motivation for school post-Spring Break. Our testing is in May, so the kids will be so fed up by school by the end of this year.
Hi Jenny!
We did a mostly NH trip, with a sidetrip to VT during foliage season a couple of years ago, and it was soooo pretty!
I've never been to Maine, but my parents have. They like there.
I went on a whale watching trip a couple of years ago from Cape May. It was fun, but I don't think I want to do it again.

May? That's pretty late for testing!

They started that last year - gives them more time to teach the kids how to take the test. :zipit: Oh, they might do some other things on the side. Like, you know, EDUCATE.

Morning glory and halleulah to y'all.

Actually, I woke up at 9, but I've been half asleep for the past two hours anyway.

It's very unpleasant outside, but if it was in WDW, I wouldn't have a problem.

That's the same everywhere Jenn! So much depends on the test results that education itself takes a back seat. It's very frustrating for teachers too.

Not to get into a total rant, but I hate the way they do that.
At my school, as a sophomore, you are REQUIRED to take a class that basically teaches you how to take the SAT and the HSPA (our test that you are required to pass to graduate.)
It's so stupid. I hate it.

Teachers at my school are really fed up with the system.
My mom, who teaches 2nd grade, has to start teaching her kids (when they're 7!) about the test they have to take when they're in 3rd grade.
Really, is it all necessary?

You can thank "No Child Left Behind" for that.

I really do hate that stupid act.
The teacher I have for Eng Skills (the class I mentioned a few posts back) and I got into a total rant one day about it.
In NJ, you have to pass the HSPA to graduate. Okay, so 4 years of passing classes isn't enough?

I know, and I don't blame the teachers really. They have to do what the gov't tells them to. I'm just tired of self-important bureaucrats painting a general brush over education.
And now that I mention it, I have some tea I want to dump in Boston Harbor. :animwink:
