Wishes Question!

Of course, it's her. But I don't know what you mean by a wire. She can actually fly, you know? What I can't understand is why she flies up and down and all around at Disneyland but flies straight as an arrow at WDW. Must be some kind of FL air traffic law or something. :lookaroun
You see, Peter Pan drew a line in the sky so Tink wouldn't get lost flying at night... some people have mistakenly thought this is a wire.

I love seeing Tink fly out of the castle at Wishes, and I love to hear the reaction of all the people standing around you that have never seen her. It's great... a must do!

I feel cheated! My family has seen Wishes at least 6 times, and we have never seen Tinkerbelle fly from the castle. We have seen the display from various locations and have filmed it on three occasions. we DO always go in Septmeber and October..maybe that has something to do with it.

Don't feel bad, I have been going to WDW since I was a kid and this past May was the first time I had ever seen tink fly. It was also the first time we watched Wishes from Main Street. Before I had see it from bad viewing spots like, Liberty Square or worse, inside the castle. You have to see it from Main street... it's a whole different experiance.

Tink is real. I hear she get's paid for a full 8 hours for her few seconds of high wire work.

Not just Tink...the higher tier entertainment CMs (i.e. some parade performers, Fantasmic, etc) also get paid for a full day despite being on stage for an hour or two, if that.

Please note that Tink's flight is subject to weather conditions. Please call your carrier to see if there are any cancellations.

All kidding aside, Tink will not fly if there are high winds or if there is lightning or rain.

HalloWishes is a completely different show. It uses a couple hundred more fireworks than Wishes.

I have a friend who has been to WDW at least 3 times, maybe 4, always stays at the GF for a week...

She has never walked around World Showcase, and never saw Illuminations until this past trip a few weeks ago. She did make it to Mexico to eat this trip too, but thats it.

Amazing.

That's my favorite youtube video of her flight. I think the person that filmed it is a member here too.

Am I the only one who gets goosebumps watching this? I love that as soon as she appears you hear all these cheers. :) Out of curiousity, when she is winding her arm, is she trying to almost boost herself, or is it just another visual? (can never tell if she's waving her wand or what...)

Another Q: When did the tradition of Tink's flight begin? It's been there as long as I can remember. Thanks!

Is there a reason why?

I don't know for sure, but my guess is because there is no Matterhorn at the MK. The cables in DL go from the top of the Matterhorn to a fake tree by Fantasyland.. Also, the castle in MK is really tall and it would be kind of hard to see Tink flying behind it.

I don't know how to put this without blatently coming right out and saying it.

DL's Tink is "supported" by a much more elaborate system, which allows backwards and forwards movement, as well as vertical (hence the 'all-around' flight).

In order for WDW to copy, they would have to build 2 structures to mount this "support" system of cables. At DL, they are attached to the Matterhorn and spanned across to a false tree/hidden support structure.

I'll see if I can dig up a pic....

OK... here you go:

At DL, behind Sleeping Beauty Castle, there is a multi-cable support system. It stretches from the Matterhorn on the East side, to the 'fake-tree' on the West side.

Now, picture an elaborate pully system between the two that not only goes 'back-and-forth', but also raises and drops Tink while in flight.

All this just to say again... WDW would have to build these support structures... then theme them so they "fit-in"... just to duplicate.

I am amazed how many people go and never see it.. Or any other Show, no wishes, no spectro, no Illuminations, no Fantasmic....I've talked to people who have gone in the past and have no clue about any parades or fireworks....Their answer is 'Well the're just fireworks"...Hello Your at Disney its not "just Fireworks"..Its , Its ...Magical Its part of going you need to (well not really )....I've convered quite a few who never use to stay for the shows.......I do like when Wishes starts, and to look around and see everyonelooking up in awe and singing along....I'm usually crying at that moment as welll.....Walt would be sooo very proud....(sorry for the drift!!!)

20 more days and I'll be seeing HalloWishes..(Its wishes on drugs)

Hahahah! I love the "HalloWishes" comment.

You definitely get it. I mean...Disney World and fireworks go hand in hand...and whenever I find anyone who hasn's seen them, I give them any and all advice I can think of, and make them promise to stay and watch!

Oh and I definitely Agree abuot Walt approving. (for the most part anyway)

Look for me on MS at MK...I'll take your familys picture.
