Hey WDWMagic,

Today marks the 5th Anniversary of the premiere of Wishes!, MK's larges Firework show to ever grace Disney sky's.

Just thought a nice thread of reflection and pictures was appropriate as most of us have a strong attachment to the show.

Post away!

The first thing i did after getting my Traditions training was to go and see Wishes with a friend of mine. I cried the whole show and I still have amazing memories of Wishes, and more yet to come.

I can still see the faces in the families and on kids with this Amazing show.

Happy Birthday WISHES!

I love Wishes. Very special to me as I have always wished on the first star every night as long as I can remember. Combine that with Disney and there ya are! (most of my wishes were to go to WDW) Nothing like seeing Tink fly from the castle especially the first time. I cry every time, even when I watch our videos!

My Wishes pics are always crappy but here is an okay Hallowishes one-

Yes, I had a crappy camera, but this was the first full performance of Wishes in the Magic Kingdom. Thankfully, I got a nicer camera and found a similar shot:

And of course, an obligatory pretty shot:

Bigger versions are available in my photo album.

Still my favorite!!

My first trip to WDW was June 2004, I have only been twice since but Wishes is still my favorite part... watched it probably 50 times while away... Happy Birthday Wishes!!:)

Wishes Fun Facts:

- It takes 4 and a half to 6 hours to load the shells and prepare the show.

- It takes 30 - 40 minutes to load the finale and under 5 seconds to fire them.

- It only takes 4 people to run the show with 1 extra for safety.

- The shells are not "fireworks" they are actually Low Explosives (pyrotechnics).

- The explosives are purchased at least 1 year in advance from China and it takes 3 to 9 months for them to arrive.

- Two types of pyrotechnics are used with one specifically designed to work within close proximity to performers and buildings.
