Win or Lose (Pixar Disney+ series)

Why do you think suppressing part of the character’s identity would make for better storytelling?
There's no suppression occuring here. It's not in the story, it's not part of the show.

During development Disney removed a component that was determined to not be part of the character.

The character is as in the show, not the left over bits and pieces on the cutting room floor.

The episode in question had to be changed to remove the references. It wasn’t during development; the voice actress was quite taken aback when she found out a few months ago.

Before release disney changed the character. Call it development, production, post, whatever. If the actor was quite taken aback, well, "It's hollywood baby".
No-one is denying these things happen; the world of entertainment can be cutthroat and unpredictable. The only thing I was questioning was why you thought such a move would serve the story better. That’s something you haven’t been able to explain.

Never said it was. Transgender political protest groups running with it isn't a good look though.

As I said, Disney smartly removed the problematic material. Some people are still hooked on it though instead of enjoying the story for what it is.

As shown by your transgender protest twitter post, they removed the politicized problematic material. Keep the focus on the story and not the politics.
You are working to make certain words meaningless - “political,” “problematic,” “story.” This desire to separate words from meaning, to render language a thing that obscures rather then reveals truth, indeed to destabilize and devalue the entire concept of truth itself, is something we’ve seen before in world history. Indeed, Hannah Arendt writes of it very eloquently.

What has happened here is that pressure from the state and federal government has served its intended, deeply unconstitutional purpose and severely chilled free expression. Regardless of your opinion of the suppressed speech, if you are celebrating this you have abandoned the founding principles that define America.

Episode 03: Answer (Rochelle's Episode)

Rochelle seems to have it all together: she's the top catcher on the softball team, gets straight A's, and even has a part-time job at the cafeteria -a truly impressive 13-year-old. As the oldest child of a single mother, Rochelle has had to grow up fast. Short on cash, she works hard to pay for her softball tuition next year. When she gets a chance to improve her financial situation by helping her classmates with their homework -does that count as "cheating"?-she dives headfirst into the scheme and becomes a true professional cheater.

Episode 04: Pickles (Vanessa's Episode)

Vanessa is a hard-working single mom who faces life's challenges with positivity and a smile on her face-her bubbly personality has earned her a large online following. Vanessa adores her kids, Rochelle and baby Zane, but she's a bit obsessed with the love she gets for her social media posts: seeing those pink hearts pop up fills her with a bit of a sense of glee. When life throws you a curveball, or three curveballs, Vanessa has it all under control. She can solve anything, seemingly, until one of her children goes missing
