Companies always follow the money. I know some people are shaken from this but like with any company I figured Disney was only "all in" on LGBTQ when it was trendy because they thought it made financial sense.

Once dollars don't come from it that's when it all stops. I also noticed Target and other companies pulling back on things like this too.

Interesting how Iger a year or so ago compared Disney promoting LGBTQ content to being on the right side of history and comparing it to the civil rights movement, just shows how fake he is.

There has been a concerted, prolonged, unconstitutional assault on Disney by government at both the state and local level in an attempt to silence speech that the government dislikes. It has worked. Iger was always an insincere coward, but what has happened to Disney and its implications for America are utterly disastrous. We’re seeing something catastrophic here, something unprecedented, and people are either supporting or ignoring it.

Bad week for the Iger legacy, good week for the future Iger biographer.

I dunno. Disney has been a pretty big advocate in this area, long before it was trendy. I don't see that going away. It seems to me they're trying to thread a needle where they have different standards for different types of content (kids vs. adults). Their statement: When it comes to animated content for a younger audience, we recognize that many parents would prefer to discuss certain subjects with their children on their own terms and timeline.

Yeah, it shows Disney has no moral integrity. I'm also scared for the future of LGBT rights in America.

Financially, however, Disney's decision — while cowardly — makes sense. LGBT audiences and allies didn't show up to support movies like Lightyear and Strange World. On Twitter I saw a lot of people say things like "oh, this representation looks great. I can't wait to watch it on Disney Plus!" That doesn't help the bottom line. If people want to see more LGBT representation, they need to put their money where their mouth is and actually financially support it, because when those movies flop, studios aren't going to want to finance them.

Like I said, Disney has no choice. I’m sorry.

By the way, remember you guys at my Once Upon A Studio thread thought it’s going to be Pixar’s transgender short from the audition notice? Well, there‘s your transgender short! And I told you it will be cancelled, or in this case, removed. I tried to warn you guys, but Disney is a business company, you know, not a political company.

You’re right.

And that’s why they didn’t remove Billy Maximoff’s LGBTQ elements from Agatha All Along because they didn’t want to fail in doing that character justice.

The election was pretty decisive and parents don't want kids being exposed to transgender topics. I don't think Disney has much room here. I think for content aimed at teens and older we will still see trans and LGBT topics being presented.
Yet we have a transgender woman who was just elected to congress

The election was very close.

What we are seeing is the result of a direct governmental assault on free speech that has completely cowed Disney.
