Speaking of outdoor animatronics...have there been other outdoor animatronics at Disney in the past?

I can seem to think of any...It could pose a maintenance issue.

The ride will not have the witch. We've seen the CGI siumlation and concept art and there's nothing indicating she (or any other "Scary Adventure") will be featured in the ride, unless some random, last-minute chage is made.

I wouldn't say what te ride will have until it is open in 2014. I defanately think their will be a witch or queen (hopefully queen

Regardless of what's in the movie, current [Orlando] Disney obviously does not view such characters and situations as "appropriate" for Fantasyland, unfortunately.

This would be a disappointment of a ride I all it was is going through hills/ mines and seeing just the 7 dwarfs if their is no snow white and queen/ witch then to me theirs no point of te ride. I know it's named te seven dwarfs mine train but if it weren't for snow white and the queen no one would even know about the dwarfs, it is the base of the whole story.

btw even with the Mine Train there are still 5 M&G in New Fantasyland, Belle, Ariel, Snow White, Silly Side Show, and Princess Hall

Where is there going to be a Snow White meet and greet?

I know that Belle will be in the Maurice's Cottage/Enchanted Tales with Belle...

Ariel will be in Ariel's Grotto....

Silly Side Show is in Dumbo's Circus (to meet Minnie, Daisy, Goofy, and Donald)...

and Princess Hall will be where SWSA was (and will presumably have Tiana, Rapunzel, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Merida, Mulan, Jasmine, and anyone I am missing)...

Where is Snow White getting her own Meet and Greet, as I assumed she'd be in the Princess Hall?

I know it's not like WDI has:

1. Put doll characters outside of Small World that appear when the clock chimes.
2. Put any animatronics on the outside of Thunder Moutain
3. Made Luxo an outdoor animatronic
4. Put a Mr. Potato Head outside of Toy Story Mania
5. Filled the Jungle Cruise will outdoor animatronics, thank goodness they use real animals! ;)

Wow, no need to be so snarky!

I, for one, really hope Disney decides to include the Queen. To me, TDO has become way too PC lately, way too toddler-oriented. If the parks were just getting built today, and TDO was in the same shape it is in nowadays, I highly doubt we'd see attractions like the Haunted Mansion or Pirates for fear of them being too scary for little kids. Enough is enough already!

Why did you reply like that? It's obvious dug couldn't really think of any outside animatronics. He wasn't completely stating there weren't any at all.

Sorry, I was going to add a winkie smile or something—got distracted halfway through writing it, thought it was a hip sassy reply, came out wrong. Sorry Dug!

The Mine Train will include the Dwarf's cottage and a Snow White meet and greet is supposed to be in there

Don't have the time, but google search Chris Beatty Allears interview about SDMT and I'm sure you can find it.

I don't believe it was this imagineer, as it was an article on an interview with some imagineer, though I guess it could have been him. The imagineer in the article said that they were looking at putting in classic scenes from Snow White into the ride, such as the one with the Dwarfs marching over the log, which we all now know will be on the outside of the ride, plus he/she "hinted" that the witch just might make an appearance. I don't think he/she would say that about Snow White as having a short scene with Snow White is already baked into the cake.

Given the context, I figured that the witch would (I guess obviously) have to be put somewhere on the outside portion of the ride, such as offering an apple to the mine cart as it passes by, or perhaps with the witch trying to dislodge a boulder. Much easier to put in the witch than Snow White, IMHO.

All they have to do is put in a fake little tree and the cart goes by and the witch pops out from behind the tree with the apple as you quickly cruise by. Heck, it probably become an iconic symbol for the ride, plus little kids would be flying be so fast there wouldn't be time to be scared.

I'm sure someone will eventually find this article, its out there somewhere.

In terms of construction work, they done a whole lot of it already:

1. Foundation poured.
2. Utilities probably ready to be hooked up/conduit in place
3. Framing of the mountain has begun.
4. Parts of the roller coaster done, probably inside coaster track done first, then "mountain" is being built around it.

In terms of building a house, once you get the walls up and the roof on, you've got a good start. Of course, Disney will require months of artists doing the rockwork and other details.

I think that the construction has really picked up recently because when FLE opens (sans the Seven Dwarfs Coaster), it will be harder to move construction equipment/materials, in and out, unless they have allowed for a walled-off narrow pathway.

Here's how I would estimate the construction schedule:

January 2013. Rockwork has already been attached, and the painters are now working on the paint job. The entire track has been laid out. Horticulturists are planting trees and plants, work on any streams has been completed. Construction of Snow White's cottage is half-way done. (Rockwork for Cardillac Mountain Range I believe was in the process of being finished up about a year before Carsland opened, maybe a couple months less).

April 2013. Major electrical work is begun, plumbing, and the installation of the ride vehicles and system begins once rock work is completely painted and fake trees/plants added.

July 2013. Ride vehicle testing begins. Disney artists descend on the attraction to paint and add details to the queue portion of the ride.

October 2013. Ride vehicle testing continues, animatronics are added, or are fine tuned. Detail work continues, and rumors of a soft opening in three or so months begin. Horticulturists add shrubbery, other details. Work on Snow White's cottage nears completion.

January 2014. Fine tuning of animatronics and ride system continues, detail work is finishing up. Outdoor animatronic dwarfs marching on log are seen spotted by tourists peering over the wall. Ride to have soft openings in weeks, after more safety testing.

It's interesting that they have not installed any of the track yet, at least in areas we can see, but have started to close things in. Getting the track installed on the lift hill is going to be a trickey task.

Based on how long rock work has taken on other projects, including the BaTB I would bet we see that work going well into 2013.

I don't think that kids being scared should be a concern when making rides. If the queen is a major part of the story then she should be a major part of the ride not just one little pop out of the witch or something. It would just take away from the story. I would always close my eyes in SWSA when the queen would turn around and be scared but then I had the interest to open my eyes to see what was happening. I also got scared of her when I watched the movie, but that dosent mean I skipped watching all of the parts with the queen or witch. What I'm trying to say is (even though it sounds a little cruel) that Imagineers shouldn't try to make this an all happy not scary ride because some parts of the movie were happy and some parts were scary so have both. The imagineers should be getting the guests to have the same feelings when they watched the movie. And that is why I think there needs to be tvleast one queen and witch.
