Trip Report Will it ever stop raining? Our June 2017 trip

Hi, all!! I've finally had a chance to start going through my photos and thought I would get started on my trip report! For those of you not familiar, here is my pre-trip report:
Adventure is out there...June 2017
If you don't want to read the PTR, here is a brief synopsis before I get started:
Who: Me (Amy), DH (Brian), DS Logan (14), DD Lily (12), and DS Owen (9)
When: June 2-17, 2017
Where: Universal Studios (Hard Rock Hotel), Disney (Art of Animation), and SeaWorld

For those of you who followed along with the live portion of my PTR, I apologize that some of the photos will be the same. I'm too lazy to go back and remember which ones I used!

I experienced one of the longest days of my life on Friday, June 2!! We left Dayton, Ohio before 5am.

Neither one of us drinks coffee, but we definitely needed some caffeine to start our morning! We stopped for the best Coke in the world!!

McDonald's!!
We had a little delay in Cincinnati because I-75 was closed both directions and we had to take a little detour.
We waved @LisaBelle and @21stamps and any other Cinci friends as we finally drove over the bridge and entered Kentucky!

We made sure to get past Lexington before morning rush hour, and stopped in Richmond for breakfast.

The kids had never had Chick fil A for breakfast, so we had to correct that!

The outside of the bathrooms were themed nicely! Nothing special about the inside!

We made it into the preshow room and were in the process of being matched with an avatar when everything shut down. We were locked in the room for a few minutes before the door opened and they evacuated everyone from the building. We had to walk down the fire stairs on the outside of the building and just stand there with no real directions from the CMs. We finally got tired of standing in the sun and followed others as they were leaving. We were led to an exit that dumped us out by Rainforest Cafe. No FP+ were being handed out, and people were very angry! Everyone was directed to Guest Relations. I decided to wait and go later!

I then got to deal with the wrath of the teenager!! He told me it was my fault that we didn't get to ride because if I hadn't wanted so many pictures, we would have been there at the beginning of our FP+ window instead of the middle and been off by the time we were evacuated. Needless to say, Brian put him in his place real quick! (And he did it much more diplomatically than I probably would have!!) After him telling Logan to have faith in his mother and that I would get it all worked out, I did get an apology.

Don't you just love the teenage years!!

I apologized to my mom very recently for all my obnoxious attitudes during ages 11-18 because it's true, as you get older, you understand that your mom is pretty much always right :angelic:
Yep, they're the best! It just surprised me coming from him! He usually has a pretty good attitude with us. (now that's a different story when he's talking to Lily and Owen!) Lily is the one who is usually snarky! I'm not looking forward to the next few years with her!!

I give parents a lot of credit, especially once the kids hit those teen years, parents become the enemy!! Once I graduated HS & moved away to college, I became a lot closer to my mom and stopped being so sassy to her. Time goes fast though, so hopefully those years won't be too awful!

Your trip report title caught my eye because my family also visited during the rainy days of June this year. Then as I read along, I realized we had a few other things in common. My family consists of my husband, my 14 year old son, my (almost) 12 year old daughter, and myself. Sadly, we don't have a 9 y.o. We visited Universal for the first time this year as well, and SeaWorld was on our itinerary, too.

None of our park days have coincided with yours, but as I read along, I reflect on what we were doing on each particular rainy day. For instance, we were at Universal on your Typhoon Lagoon day. That was a doozy of a rainy day! We were there May 28-June 10.

I love all your detailed photos. I really appreciate all of your pictures of Animal Kingdom. We were there the day after you, and I realize we missed so much of the tree of life. I am going to slow down and take more of that in next time! You are so good to have done that!

I am anxious to hear about the end of your AK day and whether your crew made it back to FoP. :)

What type of camera did you use for the safari photos?

I am soooo glad you got your money back on the Typhoon Lagoon cabana. That was a nice sprinkling of pixie dust for sure!

It was so fun to see your minion character meal at Universal. I didn't look into any of those as I planned our trip. We may have to try it out in the future.

Thanks for sharing the fun details of your vacation and all of the wonderful photos of your precious family.

Your pictures are so clear. It almost looked like you were right in the enclosures!!
We've had quite a few teenage meltdowns through the years. Mine are both adults now and they now have a good laugh at some of their worst moments:D

Your pictures are beautiful! Your attention to detail is amazing! Your kids will appreciate them years from now when they look back at all the memories! I too have a snarky teenager who thinks everything is my fault. I find it helps to have other parents with whom to commiserate.
Thanks! I have to just laugh about it, or they would bring me to tears more times than not!

The weather really was terrible!

How funny that we had so many of the same firsts during our trips!

AK is definitely my favorite park, so the kids all know that they have to be patient while I stop frequently!

I used my Canon Powershot x620 for all of the safari pics.

We loved the character meal! It was nice to stop and relax for while!

You're so welcome! Thanks for reading, and I'm glad you're enjoying it!

The only Lula that I own are leggings, so I honestly don't know what size I am either! That's why I was excited to find that video. :p I never got around to going and trying things on, and now I don't have any of my consultants nearby to do so. :( The Little Mermaid ones are adorable.. I love the Flounder leggings! I'm gonna be in deep trouble if/when they release Beauty and the Beast. o_O

Girl, save yourself a massive headache and find a way to try things on. LLR sizes make absolute zero sense. I'm an XL Randy, a M Classic Tee, a S Irma, etc. Absolutely. Zero. Sense.

I just realized that the last three PhotoPass photos in Pandora were actually taken when we went back later in the day!! I swore we took them before FOP, but apparently not!

After exiting Pandora, we had a little time before our last FP+, so we decided to see It's Tough to be a Bug.

The rain was hard enough by the time we got on EE that it really hurt!!

We made our way to the front of the park to head back to AoA to try to wait out the rain and get ourselves a little dry! I was the only one who was half way dry because I used an umbrella to keep my backpack and the camera dry!

I stopped off at Guest Services where there was a line, but nowhere near as long as it had been earlier! I sent the others on and told them I would meet them at the room. As soon as I got to the counter and said we had used a FP+ for FOP and ... before I even finished, she was offering to add another FP+ to my account. She asked if we would be in the park later in the day. I said that was our plan, but with the weather we weren't sure, so she offered to put it on our next day at AK instead!

I made my way to the bus stop, and they were still standing in line, so we got to ride back to AoA together! Once there, we used the hair dryers to dry our sweatshirts and the backpack Brian had been carrying! Not very efficient, but it worked!

I really, really wanted a ROL shirt, but I had a hard time finding one I liked. I looked all morning, and finally found one I liked. Unfortunately, it was the child's version. Luckily, I could fit in the XL!!
