You know it's not a good idea to walk around in IOA with your eyes closed. ;)

Just because I see a strong similarity between IOA and my local Six Flags is simply my opinion. Its based upon the distinct lack of immersion I feel while at IOA.

Jimmy Thick- I have 15/20 vision, I see amazingly.

While I believe they may have gone down in attendance, what you're saying is while all the other parks were near flat/up/slightly down if the estimates are wrong in the entire Orlando area, this would require the people doing the Estimates to be off more greater than 19% in a year Theme Parks had record attendance. That's so mathematically improbably it would make my head explode, and should cause the group of people who do the data collection and estimates to get fired off into the sun because there may be no one in the world worse at their job.

The more "realistic" numbers I've heard seem to be about 8.5, and even that seems very difficult for any park to achieve because by accident with the increases in Orlando it should have at been within 5% of its previous numbers. For comparison the largest drop of any park in the top 20 is 12.5%, however that's from a park in Asia that didn't break a million visitors anyway so it's a much easier figure to achieve.

If it was remotely possible a Universal park could topple the very worst Disney park in Florida, it would make the news in Orlando, and possibly around the world because it would affect the stock price.

I have not seen any claims from reputable sources with such information, there for such allegations are complete folly.

I'm pretty sure that IOA has more people on any given day than DHS.

DHS attendance figures are biased in Disney's favor simply because of the hopper tickets. Sure people have been through the gate, but they do not stay all day.

You will encounter more people at IOA.

In my humble opinion as long as Disney markets to the Whole Family, Universals parks will never surpass a Disney Park. I love going to both Uni parks, but since i have small children its a waste of my time and money to even visit them. Its a very short list of rides my 3yr cant go on in WDW compared to Uni. What numbers and figures i would love to see is what % of the attendees at Universal are staying on WDW property! I never have nor ever will base my Florida trip around Universal. Its a bonus if I get a chance to go

yeah and im sure both Universal parks numbers are going to go up because your forced to buy a 2 park ticket to see both potter lands.

im sure ioa numbers will dip a little because of the bigger better potter land

IOA, in my humble opinion, is the worst best theme park in the world. I say this because IOA has so much potential, but so far fails to act on that potential. This is very sad.
I have a similar opinion of IOA. IOA has some great theming. Port of Entry is intriguing, as is JP, WWOHP, LC, and Suessland. However, I think IOA lacks what I'll call "non-teenager attractions" while three of its major attractions require getting soaked. Meanwhile, although Dragon's Challenge is fun, the actual on-ride theming is truly Six Flags caliber.

I still much prefer USF. After the completion of the upcoming additions, I suspect USF will be the second-best theme park in Orlando.

There is absolutely no way a Star Wars movie will flop.

None.
Zero.
Zip.
Nada.

Some people think the last 3 Star Wars movies made were terrible, yet they made more money than the original 3. Nope, Star Wars movies are a license to print money, which is why Disney will exploit that.

Jimmy Thick- The real reason they bought out Lucas was for the films, not theme park attractions...

Have to agree. Star Wars will draw for a very long time. Maybe we will see Indiana, go bye bye and another Star Wars attraction take its place.

UNI picked up a long time draw with HP. Each acquisition for each company is a long term win. Disney tried very hard to acquire the rights to HP. UNI beat Disney out. By acquiring Marvel, Disney put more umph into their portfolio. However, Disney cannot capitalize on the Marvel Universe east of the Mississippi. So Disney will rely on the movies and merchandise to turn profit for Marvel on the east coast, while they build Marvel attractions on the west coast.

What we are seeing is competition. Competition brings innovation, improvements, and forward thinking into the process. Each company will try to one up the other company. UNI built HP land, Disney did FLE. UNI built HP to draw that crowd, while Disney built FLE to capitalize on princesses (to an extent).

then how can u go to both parks for one price?
The details haven't been completely worked out but from my understanding there will be a "customs" gate at the exit of each area of Potterville. Without the proper "hopper" pass you will have to return to your original park gate after touring the other park's Potterburg.

The following is from a Universal survey I took in May:

In the Summer of 2010, Universal Orlando Resort opened the Wizarding World of Harry Potter with Hogsmeade Village situated inside of the Islands of Adventure theme park.

In the summer of 2014, Universal Orlando Resort will open Diagon Alley, the London portion of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter inside Universal Studios Florida. Connecting the two theme parks will be a transportation system called the Hogwarts Express.

If you want to experience BOTH Diagon Alley at Universal Studios Florida and Hogsmeade Village at Islands of Adventure, you will need to purchase a ticket with park-to-park access. While not completely decided, it is likely that you will need to purchase a ticket that allows access to both Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios Florida in order to ride the Hogwarts Express that connects the two parks (also known as a park-to-park ticket).

I haven't seen that discussed anywhere. It's been speculated that one park ticket holders would still be allowed to ride the Hogwarts Express and return, but not that they would be allowed into the land itself.

Disney though has several properties in multiple parks.

Um, since when does Universal not offer park hoppers?

Psst, they do, and since people usually stay at Disney and just spend a day at Universal it would make sense to purchase park hoppers at Universal to see both parks due to the limited sample size time frame people have to visit. For people to actually think Disney outdraws Universal because of park hopping, when Universal offers park hopping themselves which I have no doubt is used just as much, is just a sorry excuse that holds absolutely no merit to any intelligent discussion.

Seriously, people need to try harder to make rational excuses.

Jimmy Thick- Park hopping, dining plan, price matching...Disney sets the standard for others to follow.

A "2 Park Ticket" is what Uni calls a park hopper.
