Will I Really Wear Makeup?

I am getting closer and closer to our 9/17 trip and I keep wondering....will I REALLY wear makeup while I'm there? I mean I really don't leave the house without it on anymore which is funny considering for like almost all of my 30s I didn't wear a bit of it, (I am 39 - will turn 40 on they day we leave for WDW :)). However I really hate the stuff. I only use it because I prefer the way I look with it on vs. without. So I am torn - do I bother applying at all or just leave it at home and forget it?
Two things...
1. Yes, I know in the grand scheme of things this is stupid to waste my time pondering and I'm sorry for wasting your time too lol.
2. I am an all or nothing type so I will either apply all of it or none of it. So suggestions to go light won't help since I don't wear too much anyway, but enough to "feel" it on (which is the part I hate).
What are your experiences with makeup and what do you suggest for me?

Because I am nearly forty and still plagued by acne and acne scars about which I'm a little insecure, I tend to wear makeup even in hot Florida weather -- I just wear very light layers. I bring a combination moisturizer/sunscreen/primer product, a lightweight foundation, translucent powder, and tinted lip gloss, along with travel/sample-sized mascara, eyeliner, eyelash curler and an eyeshadow chub pencil. My whole makeup regimen takes less than 5 minutes to apply, and thanks to the primer, it stays in place well. For the rest of the day, I just make like Elsa and "let it go"-- if I get splashed on a ride, I ignore it. If I get sweaty, I lightly blot my face (I don't even use purchased commercial blotting papers -- just a plain old paper towel from the restroom) and keep on truckin'.

It doesn't sound like you "need" to wear makeup, but if you feel better with it, just bring a few things that are essentials to you. Unless you need it for blemish cover, definitely skip foundations and powders, which are the first to suffer in the heat, and just use a moisturizer you like to make your skin glow.

EDIT: Fair warning: You will see some female guests at Disney World, made up like they're about to take the stage in Vegas. I don't know why some ladies do this to themselves on vacation, but they do. When you see them, with their eyelashes sliding down their faces in the heat, their foundation running down their necks and into their cleavage as they exit Splash Mountain freshly soaked, and their copious amounts of lipstick smeared all over their Dole Whip straws, you'll be glad you opted to let your natural beauty shine through!

These are the same ladies who wear 4-inch heels to the parks. They confuse me. I try to give them the benefit of the doubt--maybe their traveling companions surprised them with a visit to WDW? They MUST have gotten dressed and made up thinking they were going somewhere fancy, but oops, no, change of plans, we're going to Hollywood Studios!

OP, I put on all my makeup at some point every day in WDW: concealer, powder, eyebrows, liner, shadow, mascara, bronzer, the whole shebang. It's natural looking, if I do say so myself, but a big improvement over no makeup. I'm in the restroom all the time because I drink so much water there, so I just blot with a paper towel if I get shiny or my eye makeup starts to migrate.

I've got the routine down to 5 minutes but even if it took longer I'd make time for it, because I want to look nice in pictures.

Not WDW but when I was in Hawaii we were on the trail that goes up to the top of the Diamondhead volcano and it was a rough trail in parts and we passsed a Japanese tour group and most of the women were wearing high healed shoes! I couldn't believe it I was having a tough time walking in tennis shoes!

.

I think it all depends on the shoes. These for instance would probably work well.

O.K. ladies.... you're safe not wearing makeup. When I'm in the parks I'm not women watching. I'm too buzy pin trading, avoiding scooters, watching for my FP/ADR time, trying to get to the attractions I want to get to. When I'm in the restaurant I'm totally food focused. So I'm not looking to see whos got makeup on or who is looking their best. Heck... you're on vacation... its time to relax... if you dont want to wear makeup during your trip, thats O.K. I may look a bit rough around the edges when I'm on vacation too, so if you dont mind me not looking my best either... we're good. ;) Bottom line, no matter what you look like, we'll probably never meet again anyway, so you dont have to impress me. :D

This is so true it hurts - I remember our trip when I was barely 13 and I crushed so hard on "Lars" from Norway, I think there's a part of me that still hopes one trip we will meet again lol. Okay not really but man when I was 13 I thought this is it - we're totally getting married. Poor guy was probably like, can you get this kid away from me now?:facepalm:

I am 42 and have very dry skin. Even with tons of lotion, any makeup I put on disappears within the hour. So I use Lancôme lotion(with spf) and then a tinted moisturizer(also spf) that just evens out my skin tone a bit and then a quick light dusting of powder to set it. That's it for makeup at WDW(except for lip stuff). If you want to wear some makeup, go for it. I wouldn't go overboard with eyeliner etc, but whatever makes you feel good, do it.

Hmmm, 13 yo, a bit too young for Lars.....From what I've read in the cast member and ex cast members tales... Lars probably went home to Norway with plenty of other CM conquests.

@JENN SMITH

Makeup!

It's your 40th! Congrats! You'll want to look fab next to your pics with Mickey so why not?!

You can do it!

I was in Orlando this past July, and had just turned 40. My makeup stayed on even after I came out of the pool at the end of the night! Here's my no-fail formula:

- Mehron Barrier Spray (spray it on a clean face - it stops oil/sweat).

- Primer or Nutrogena Matte Primer

- Longwear Foundation

- Waterproof Mascara

- Any eyeshadow of choice

- waterproof eyeliner

- Ben Nye Banana Finishing Powder (or a color that matches your skin tone)

- Mehron Barrier Spray or Ben Nye Final Seal finishing spray - or even hairspray.

That makeup is going NOWHERE!

Hair is still a challenge. I ended up either using "Not Your Mother's Beach Spray" to allow my hair to naturally get wavy/curly if there was high humidity or one day I had success by flat ironing my hair but beforehand using Redken Duo Shield and it held up pretty well for the same style in my profile pic.

A couple weeks ago I wore the same products for 12 hours while cooking, serving food and bar tending off a bear truck for our church festival - it held all day/night!

All of the products above I buy via eBay. My routine takes 5 min. I can get sample sizes there cheap which works for travel and TSA.

Bring some rice paper blotting sheets or the brown quick service napkins blot well too - and they're free!

Another think that helped me - dress light and drink tons of cold water!

It does come off... You just need soap and water - I was shocked though when I came out of the pool and my makeup looked the same before I went in.

Good luck!

Sweden? Blondes?

I remember in high school my sister and I spent A LOT of time in Italy. A couple times in college my girlfriends and I hung out with some Italian CM's at PI. We were good Catholic girls - danced only! I already had done an internship at a Six Flags park by that time and some co-interns had done WDW CP... I heard the stories about the CP hookups and they were even more rampant among the Europeans. I'm not into "guess your venerial disease."

As for my Italy showcase crushes...Go figure I married the whitest most non-Mediterranean man on the planet. (The sweetest too).

This is so true. I will definitely look into some of the makeup products you mentioned! I have tried so many hair products with high hopes of being able to accept my natural curl but alas...my dreams are always crushed. I found this meme and yea...pretty much me when I try to go natural. So it's always, bun, braid, straightener or big fat curler. Whatayagonnado? o_O

ME TOO!!! I have always, (except for Lars from Norway) been into tall, dark, olive complexion - ya know? Then I grew up and married a ginger lol! If someone would have told me 20 years ago that would happen I would have never believed them. We had mutual friends that wanted us to meet so when he first walked in and I saw he was a ginger I was like WTH are they thinking?! But he's the best ever!

Ha! I'm Italian and never dated anyone who wasn't at least part Italian - it just saves so much explaining (like how to pronounce 'cannoli' - oh and...it's gravy...and emotional outbursts...and real pizza...) LOL. Ended up with an Irish-German so white, he thinks any black person singing is "gospel music" LOL. But he has dark hair. :D Two weeks from tonight, we'll be packing to drive to WDW the next day for our 8 yr wedding anniversary. (Together 10 yrs.)
