That's a stupid decision!!!

I didn't even answer the question!!!
So.... I don't think disney seas is coming because wdw mostly doesn't clone but i do think another park is coming.

*cough* most of MK *cough* the monorail *cough* Soarin' *cough*

man... there must be allergies out here... lol.

Just because cloning isn't as obvious in WDW as it is in the other resorts doesn't mean it doesn't and won't happen...

There's no new park coming for a long while. They will make their current parks worth the price of admission before they expand onto another theme park.

Yes true but did you ever notice all the newer theme parks (Epcot, MGM, DAK) attractions are original with an exception of a few? Most of Epcot is original and same goes to MGM and AK... parks cloned mostly from the "world", not the oppissite! That is why I strongly believe that the next park will be original! Oh, and i think they will aim the next park to compete directly with IOA because it got very good comments from guests...

PS. the monorail is for transportation only..... (I think :veryconfu )
Which other resort has a monorail?

Yes, i too would have to agree that the next park would be a direct competitor to IOA (even though thats supposed to be a direct competitor to MK) because 80% of the people who visit all of WDW and UO (Universal Orlando) end up saying (in my experience anyways) that IOA was the favorite park and that it would be the most likely one that they would return to and that the might consider staying on Universal property to spend a few days at Universal and maybe go in WDW for a few days.

Even my family was there for the first time and said next time it's more time at IOA!!! Just shows the popularity!

Hmm. That’s interesting. I wonder then why IOA has consistently had one of the lowest annual attendance figures of all the Orlando area theme parks even being surpassed by Universal Studios by nearly two million people.

If you rate popularity on the number of people actually visiting the park, IOA sits just above Sea World (by only about 400 thousand people) for last place. And this is a trend that is likely to continue to worsen over the long term. IOA is predominately a thrill ride park but as the baby boomers continue to age, there will be less and less of a demographic with lots of tourist dollars to spend on expensive theme park tickets, rooms, and souvenirs since the generation that follows them up is not as large and on average, has considerably less in the way of disposable income.

Parks such as Epcot may actually see an increase in attendance over and above all the others in the next decade or so as the Florida marketing machine shifts gears to appeal more to people who can’t physically do the thrill rides and are looking for a more mature experience. Why would they do something like this? Because this is the largest demographic group and also the one who has the most money per person.

Don’t believe me? Here is an article that explains some of what I’m talking about… And it isn’t alone. Do news search for “baby boomer” and see what comes up. :)

You don’t have to like it but these are the facts. They aren’t what I think or what I guess or surmise or what I have concluded after consulting my friends and family - they are the national trends. They are the actual facts which are largely indisputable.

In terms of IOA having low attendance- i think that is just because it is new. What i was more refering to is that the people who DO actually go there really like it. Although- i can see what you mean about attendance, the park seems litterally empty everytime i go and they make such huge queues that never get even 1/2 full.

But back to the original question, if i was in charge, i wouldnt open up a 5th park for a while. Instead, I too would try and improve the currently exsisting ones. I think what they're doing with Epcot is great, adding interesting, thrilling , exciting rides but keeping them educational in the same way. As for the Magic Kingdom, i think they should have kepy AE and put Stitch somewhere else. Also, tear down Toontown Fair and put in a decent toontown with a Roger Rabbits Cartton Spin. Then, update Fantasyland by adding new attractions like Alice in Wonderland and Pinacchio (i'm not sure if thats spelt right) or even some new ones like...Bambi or Robin Hood- i dont know but some new dark rides would be nice, especially to take away the empty lagoon. Then, to get into the "thrills" category, the MK should put in an updated Materhorn similar to DLP's Space Mountain. Finally, add an Indiana Jones ride to Adventureland- but not a clone, a completly new ride. This would ensure the MK have thrills, and tamer rides. IE: something for everyone. Thats what makes IOA so popular. They have so many different types of rides- all of which are excelently done (ex: Cat in the Hat versus cardboard cutouts on Disney dark rides). And then, instead of adding a Disney Sea, why not make a new land at the AK with a sea theme? It could have sea animals, a few rides, maybe an Aquatopia......

Anyways, those are my ideas

its simple

I can see why people might think some of the attractions at IOA are more exciting... but the feel isnt there. If there was any "magic" at all at IOA, maybe their attendance would be higher. WDW will always one-up UO because of the atmosphere that can never be matched. Thats all there is to it... Disney Magic

I agree- the feeling i get in IOA is not as good as lets say at the MK and also, i think if they had more recognizable characters the rides might be more interesting (ex: i had no idea who Dudley Do-Right was until i went on the ride and i dont think that many kids know who he is either. Nut overall i think they did a pretty good job with the park

To Mr.Promey:

I didn't say it is as popular as disney (and i do believe you) but sure is going that path... That's why I believe a next park will look more like IOA... And the low attendence is mostly because it is new and is in a less known resort. My grandmother didn't even know the excistence of a uni. theme park in orlando and i had no idea about IOA until last year.. I know not all people can ride those rides that just gives me more reason to believe disney will add a park like this! Why? because it already has 4 friendly parks and I believe next time they will think about teens and thrill seekers!
But anything can happen 'till then....

Neither did I!!!! (fun ride but splash mountain is better!)

Splash Mountain is the BEST water ride I have ever been on. :king: It has a story and everything needed for a great attraction =) This is a classic already after only 11 years... Dudley Do-Right is fun but it doesn't have too much of a story or things to look at on the ride to take your mind of the drops. It is a more typical amuesment park log flume ride... :snore:

Also i was never a fan of going up the lift ramp while the cast member stood and watched you and that sat in a TOTALLY visable box thing before you went down the big drop

Pluse i find the story line very hard to follow!

And btw, Splash Mountain is my favorite ride at WDW

The story is quite easy; Dudley and his friends get into trouble, the bad guy captures everyone but dudley saves the day (oh, and you are a ticking bomb and the fall is when you explode)...

Great ride but it lacks detail but is no way an ordinary flume ride.

I never understood Splash Mountain!

Well, my point was just that it has been open now for going on five years and is still lagging behind Universal Studios pretty badly. What to me makes this even more surprising is that this is on top of the fact that until the recent opening of the Shreck 4D and Jimmy Neutron movies, the only new attraction of note that has opened at Universal Studios since IOA is MIB where as IOA is nothing but new stuff and previous to MIB the only other major additions to Universal were Back to the Future and Jaws (No, I"m not counting Twister as a 'major attraction'.

What this means is that when faced with the decision to go to Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure (when they literally hit the fork in the road while walking through City Walk), nearly two million people a year still choose to go to Universal Studios over Islands of Adventure. I find it hard to believe that anyone approaching the two parks could easily miss the lighthouse... or the Hulk... or the Fearfall or anything else that is highly visible even from I-4.

I could see how someone might not realize it if they hadn't ever rented a movie that had the advertisement before it from Blockbuster or seen the national commercials or all the billboards plastered all over the Orlando area if they flew in and took a cab directly to Disney property and stayed there for their entire visit but what I'm talking about is people that not only had the choose of IOA but were again reminded of it as they left the studios with an offer to come back and go to IOA on the second day for a discount... I'm sorry but if someone spent an entire day on Universal property and was not aware of this park they would have to be death, dumb, and blind.

I would love to see a DisneySeas type park at WDW...but just not right now. I think they should keep adding and improving to the current parks they have, and then one day consider the 5th gate.

Yeah, I love Dudley! I like Splash Mountain more, but Dudley Do Right's is still great! Its just so cartoony and crazy, I love that stuff! I love the whole Toon Lagoon area!

But think about this...how many people knew who Brer Rabbit was before they rode Splash Mountain? And I doubt many teenagers know about the Twilight Zone, but ToT is still one of the best rides in Orlando!
