Will Disneyland USA suffer? ALL Of Disney's Theme Parks Now Closed - Reopening Dates Unknown

Now stop and look at those numbers not including China.

Now you're thinking with SPIN! Like a true media outlet.

The discharges will soon start outpacing new cases in other hot spots as well, but there is a natural latency for that to happen. South Korea new Dx rates have definitely peaked. Evidence suggests Italy and Iran may be at their inflection points as well.

To H with your patients, (kids aren’t affected much by Corona anyway) you’re going to have to take a leave of absence from work and post constant reassurances to keep us all calm. We will all pitch in and get you a new mug as a thank you.

Ah yes, that darn spin called factual evidence.

South Korea diagnosed 516 new cases yesterday, out of a total of 5,328. Guess that 10% increase overnight sure is a sign of "definitely peaking." I'd love to read your sources claiming SK (or Italy and Iran) has peaked... I'll wait.

I'm holding on for my Paris trip. If they park doesn't close it'll probably be the least crowded I'd ever be able to see that park.

And for the record, I'm completely fine if the rest of Paris shuts down. Disneyland Paris is the deal breaker.

Even if Corona has peaked and things start returning to normal, Disney has taken a large beating. The lost revenue from the Asia parks, theaters, and future travel is going to be significant for the quarter and will be seen at year end. If Coronavirus keeps up, I imagine the downstream financial effects will be felt for years.

IATA earlier reported that passenger air travel in affected regions is collapsing and currently China is at a 80% reduction in bookings YoY. Their numbers for a continued spread have European and Asia passenger numbers dropping 25%. Regardless of how dangerous the disease is, public perception of Coronavirus is poor and the markets will likewise be affected.

I have an exam anyways this month. The big one. So I endorse a break!

Asking one to disregard China: where the Coronavirus started and the majority of active cases still are, where the majority of discharges are now occurring... IS SPIN! If the active disease burden is increasing globally, why have you asked me to disregard more than 80% of all the diagnosed cases?

Here are the recent new diagnosed figures in chronological order specific to South Korea: 505, 517, 813, 586, 599, 851, 435, 467 (March 5th).

It’s super easy to massage raw data to fit an agenda. While you have informed us there are 10% more diagnosis in South Korea, you have left out the sexy spin that >50% more recovered cases have been reported now in South Korea - than when I went to bed!

Still waiting those sources that say it's peaked...

I also always make sure to include my raw numbers as well as percentages, rather than misleading by only stating percentages, Mr Spin.

Also remember that actual testing kits were in low supply until just very recently. The more people you test a day might increase known cases, but also lower the percentage amount of the amount of positive cases found, due to testing earlier in the disease cycle.

I do hope Disney becomes educated of this and does not close any more parks.

I agree, but I can only imagine the level of panic growing in TDA this week. Probably by the hour. This is trial by fire for the new girl Ms. Campbell whose previous career was in TV licensing, and Bob Jr. is trying to draw on his vast experience with theme park operations marketing children's pajama sets at the Disney Store to make the call on this.

But seriously, I bet the panic is real in TDA in the last 48 hours and going into this weekend.

The declarations of emergency by LA County and Gavin Newsom yesterday didn't help, especially when the LA County doctor announced on TV that you should avoid large crowds and try to stay 6 feet away from someone in public. That's not Disneyland-friendly messaging from our government officials. :D

Ever since it was brought to my attention that you can say “Covid-19” to the tune of “Come on, Eileen,” I’ve been unable to read it any other way

Oh, I love that! This weekend when I make a cocktail and need music to shake ingredients to, I'm going to have Siri play that song instead of The Supremes. 🤣

This is a new world for the new Presidents of WDW and DLR.

This 100%. Rumor is attendance yesterday was far below expectations and just watching from home, the fact it was Disneyland magic morning today and BG's today are still around means it will likely underperform today as well. Disneyland is beginning to feel the effect and it probably won't improve.
It is notable all 4 next Saturdays are booked out for Flex holders though. So there is still some demand from AP holders to visit. At least for now.

Big distinction between "BG's today are still around" and "Backup groups are still around"

Guaranteed groups were gone in 22 seconds this morning. Backup Groups being available for a while is something we've seen before at DHS.

As you might expect with thousands of hotel guests inside already and early entry tickets using their 1 day on Disneyland. The number of people inside the park alone should be enough to take up all initial groups. But there's probably a lot less additional guests there and that's why there's still groups available is my guess.
Millennium Falcon is showing a 25 minutes wait, which just last week had masses of people every morning at rope drop and opened at 90+ minutes. Indy is 25 right now which even yesterday at this time was 55 minutes. The park seems pretty empty overall.
