Will Disneyland USA suffer? ALL Of Disney's Theme Parks Now Closed - Reopening Dates Unknown

To answer the question in a legal way, no venue can deny entry in the vast majority of reasons.

Even something like "NO Open Soars" to request people to enter a pool, basically is a suggestion.

Heck, if someone enters Disneyland with Measles, not much Disney can do except call the Orange County Department of Health, and ask them to come talk to the person and their family. Disney would assign a CM to follow and log where they went, and to let the County know where they are.

There is a funny story from yesterday. A press conference was being held at the March AFB about the flight and its passengers.

A question came up about if they were Quarantined... The Official said No. But then after more questions, and getting PR Legalize speak. a reported finally asked, can the passengers leave? Yes or No? Well, the answer was, if someone asked to leave, we would have to ask the health officials, who would consult with higher ups, and it go up an up.. so no, they can't leave.

"Per a reliable source, I'm informed that an upcoming meeting in two weeks to determine potential changes / expansions for Galaxy's Edge has been put on hold with a tentative meeting in April that exists more as a placeholder than anything. This meeting was to be attended physically or via teleconference by Bob Chapek, Megan Crumpacker, Vanessa Morrison, Kris Theiler, Josh D'Amaro, Phil Holmes, and Kareem Daniel (among others). The cancellation of this meeting is directly due to the closure of parks in Asia, which is placing a hold on all potential future expansion expenditures for domestic parks until a more firm outlook in that region can be determined. Furthermore, I was told that a contingency plan is in place should Asian parks remain closed for significant durations that would see one of the water parks at WDW closed for the spring, as well as all mini-golf venues, and reduced hours at the parks (think opening times of 10 am for non-MK parks). All of these changes are ONLY on the table if Asian parks stay closed for months. The belief is that WDW can absorb cuts much better than DLR, which is already being run on lower staffing due to the summer "Close the Gap" initiative. Regardless though, any changes for Galaxy's Edge at either US park is now on hold."

And who was out here saying the Asian parks closures will have no effect on the US parks?

So something was afoot for Star Wars Land until last week

Iirc, the meeting was planned for February previously so that results of ROS could be seen and then used as a deciding point on expansion of GE.

It wasn't a 100% "we are expanding" meeting but more of a "these are the results of our trilogy, do we think expansion is a good idea or not" type meeting.

Sad to see it cancelled / delayed so long though, as even the hint of expansion would be nice to hear.

This might seem crazy but can WDW deny entrance to a guest who attempts to enter a water park who is visible sick ( coughs, sneezing) ? It would be a illness waiting to spread.

you would be asking for legal consequences. Castmembers are not medical specialists and sneezing or coughing can be caused by many things that do not include spreadable diseases. The person can have allergies that just happen to flare up when they came in contact with someone wearing to much perfume for example.

Better late than never, the White House issued new travel restrictions and quarantine requirements this afternoon on any foreigners that have been in China within the previous two weeks. Basically, no foreigners are allowed entry into the USA if they have been in China within the past two weeks. Americans returning home from China are subject to additional screening for two weeks upon their return.

All of the American airlines have now cancelled all of their flights to/from China, but some Chinese airlines are still allowed to fly here but are now confined to six airports (LAX, SFO, Sea-Tac, Ohare, Atlanta and JFK). Although with the new border controls on Chinese citizens who have been in China in the last two weeks, I can't imagine many of those China Southern or China Airlines flights still exist.

A growing list of countries has now closed its borders to Chinese travelers and banned entry by any Chinese citizen, but the USA appears to be taking an "incremental" approach instead. Interesting to watch, for sure.

And in local news, the city of Alhambra has cancelled this weekend's Lunar New Year Festival in downtown Alhambra. The city said it would try to reschedule the New Year festival for later in the year once the danger has passed.

Disneyland continues to host its own Lunar New Year Festival in DCA, however.

One of the State Department bureaucrats who landed at March Air Force Base tried to force their way out yesterday before the 3 day observation period was over, and now all 195 of them are under mandatory quarantine on the base for the next two weeks to prevent any further attempts at a mutiny. Their 3 days would have been over today, with out-patient follow up at home for two weeks, but now everyone is stuck there for 10 more days.

It's the first federally mandated quarantine in at least 50 years.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- The Bay Area's first case of the coronavirus from China has been confirmed in Santa Clara County, officials say.

RELATED: Here's what US health officials know about coronavirus outbreak that originated in Wuhan, China

The CDC says an adult male resident tested positive for the new coronavirus. He has been self-isolating since he returned from a trip to Wuhan on Jan. 24, officials say.

He has not been hospitalized and has not been very sick. He's currently being treated as an outpatient and has come into contact with very few individuals since he's been home, officials say.

Santa Clara County health officials say the patient will remain in self-quarantine at home while investigators begin to make contact with anyone with whom the patient came in contact.

Dr. Sara Cody, the county's health officer, said that the list of potentially exposed persons is short and the people with whom he came into contact with are self-isolating at home for 14 days.

The man stayed at home after returning from China and no details were given about how many others might live in the same household as the patient. note : He flew into SFO

Question, how many people on his international flight of 12 1/2 hrs ? non stop or layover where he was in contact with other people in Alaska or Washington shops, bathrooms, and then contaminated another airplane and group of people with flight to SFO. and a 45 min Uber to Santa Clara

This is my main concern. I know people returning home immediately quarantine themselves, but they are around an entire flight of passengers and flight crew, plus walk through the airport and can pass it on in passing, and then possibly Uber / get a taxi home. I really really hope we are able to contain the spread of the virus but I don't understand how we can realistically do it. They talk about contacting anyone the contaminated person came into contact with, how do they know exactly who was around him and how to contact them? What if they have the virus too from him, who have they then spread it to.

Every airport I have ever gone through the bathrooms are heavily used, with trash overflowing and it's a huge task for staff to maintain cleanliness.

Hong Kong only has one of three hotels open now as reported by Maleficient, in the wake of this good news from Thailand:

>>A Chinese woman infected with the new coronavirus showed a dramatic improvement after she was treated with a cocktail of anti-virals used to treat flu and HIV, Thailand's health ministry said Sunday.

The 71-year-old patient tested negative for the virus 48 hours after Thai doctors administered the combination, doctor Kriengsak Attipornwanich said during the ministry's daily press briefing.<<

I know it is ridiculously close to the airport on Lantau Island, but I still can't fathom how they have any hotels open when their park is closed. Really puts things in perspective if their hotels are more popular than the park itself.

Probably in an attempt to get SOME money in the event that someone COULDN'T cancel their travel plans for some reason, while also allowing at least some of their workforce to keep getting a paycheck. It's not that they're more popular, it's more of a logistical consideration.
