Will DCA be a Complete, Well Rounded and Full Day Park after the New Rides Open?

Will DCA be a Complete, Well Rounded and Full Day Park after the New Rides Open?

  • Yes

  • No, it will still need another major family attraction/ dark ride or two

  • No, it still needs at least another coaster

  • No, it needs a couple more attractions with heart like the stuff over in Fantasyland

  • No, it needs 1-2 more quality well themed lands on the Simba Lot

  • No, it needs a Transpo ride like the Train, Twain or Main Street Vehicles (RIP Red Car Trolley)

  • Two or more of the above (please explain)

  • Nothing they feasibly do can make it a full day park in my eyes

  • It already is a Complete, Well Rounded and Full Day park

  • Other (please explain)

Um, yeah, it's speculation. If Disney could open one of the two attractions if the other one wasn't ready and charge people, they will do it.
As both appear to be interconnected in the same building I doubt they will open one without the other. Just watching the construction progress they are building it all at one time, so that even leads me to doubt a staggered opening even more.

This isn't like GE where both attractions are in separate buildings so could opened staggered.

But I guess we'll see.

If they had the SP when MF:SR opened, they would have used it and people would have paid it. Now, this ride isn't in the same league hype wise as MF:SR, but Disney will do it if there is staggered opening dates.
Well since it didn't exist we'll never know what they would have done with MF, so that is irrelevant.

Short of VQ initially, I doubt it'll ever get on SP, instead moving to MP once Infinity Defense opens if its a staggered opening.

Have they ever added a Lightning Lane to a flat ride at Disneyland Resort? That's all Stark Factory is at the end of the day, if just a bit more elaborate. And with its conveyer belt system, it seems designed to fit as many riders on as possible compared to the stationary versions found at other parks (Like the ones at Legoland)

One thing I didn't see in the poll, but I'd really like to see more of at DCA is a land one can get the feeling of almost being lost in, like New Orleans Square, Knockturn Alley, or Mysterious Island.

That may be delivered in some form via Pandora or Coco, I'd love to see Coco's surroundings get a chance to do that for an otherwise iconic, but not quite immersive Pixar-Paradise Pier

That would be cool. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll be getting anything like that with Coco or Pandora. Pandora just seems to be more like a grand entrance to the attraction and Coco, considering its location and that its not its own land, I don’t see much of that happening either.

Nope, I would guess the closest was Monsters Inc.

First Big Al and now this? Are they telling us something? From what I understand they don’t even sell any CBJ merch at WDW. I mean Grizzly Peak is pretty much the last remaining land in all of DLR with no IP unless you count a Brother Bear statue and Woodlores voice on GRR.

I saw this and was confused. But no more so than seeing Orange Bird merchandise in DTD and even Figment pins in a DCA store recently. I think sometimes they just ship stuff to the wrong coast and the cast puts it out for sale anyway.

I mean, CBJ would be perfect for today's Disneyland. There's like four different shows - the original, Vacation, Christmas, and the Disneyfied show- so they could rotate every 3 months or for special promotions. It's not like the Pooh ride has been an overwhelming success.

I’d be on board but I’m not sure about the masses. For it to have any shot at long term success they would have to rotate the show seasonally like you said and I don’t think they would. TSMM, which should be easy to update hasn’t gotten anything other than some “70’s” in 17 years.

At this point with the new version we’d be getting, I think I’d prefer a CBJ comeback or presence at DCA where maybe it could take on a new life and not be judged so harshly against the original. It would also help to ensure (or ar least be a positive sign) that Grizzly Peak will stick around as we know it for the foreseeable future. At DL it would still be in hodge podge Tiana Land. I don’t know, maybe I’d feel differently if Splash was still there.

I want to say the writing is on the wall for Pooh when they decided to call the land Bayou Country but that would be giving some of the newer imagineers too much credit. It is a huge money maker but I’d imagine the merch would sell with or without an attraction.

For one reason or another, animatronic shows at Disneyland simply don't have the staying power anymore in the way WDW shows do. Tiki Room's probably the only exception and that's likely due to a mix of its small footprint and historic status.

I'd be onboard with a Grizzly River Jamboree overlay. Feels like a very easy win that plusses GRR and infuses it with some park-original IP (even though I enjoy GRR as it is now too).

I agree. Id prefer this to a show as it would preserve all the wooded area in the land. Assuming they have an expansion pad somewhere other than Redwood Creek. Either way I’d prefer their presence in GRR over a show and/ or removing Redwood Creek. Like you I enjoy GRR the way it is and would be slightly concerned about how the overlay turns out. With that said, it’s hard for me to see how some music and a few AAs could really hurt the ride experience. The only place where the tone would be altered would be in the cave with the Bear roar which I do enjoy. I think I’d be ok with a Country Bear River Revue.

The problem with GRR is you have to be willing to get soaked if you ride it. I realize that’s by design - but it makes the whole thing depend on the weather and what someone is wearing.

If it was a boat ride with a moderate drop I’d be all for it- but I’d rather be able to enjoy the bears in their natural habitat…. A theatre! Haha

I already feel it’s a pretty full day park. I’d choose it over Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios right now.

You add in Avatar and Coco and it’ll definitely be a better park.

Hahah that’s a good point but I don’t view the Bears as some new E ticket or IP that’s needs to be maximized to its full potential. I view it’s as a nostalgic nod to Disneyland history and a relatively cheap way to add some Disney charm to an existing attraction. Considering they got rid of all those Marc Davis designed America Sings AAs at Splash, it would be nice for some to make their way back to DLR. Also, I’m pretty sure if it were a show it would be playing to half empty theatres relatively soon after opening anyway.

I haven’t been to AK but I guess I can understand the sentiment. AK I’m sure is the “better” park but DCA seems like it would be more valuable or repeatable to a local/ AP.

It just sucks seeing multiple areas of Disneyland that used to be way better, without a suitable replacement.

America Sings? Splash was a worthy use of the figures, but the space has sat neglected ever since. And now the figures aren't even being used so not only is the carousel theater rotting, TBA is a huge waste also.

CBJ? We got a second rate Pooh ride with static figures.

Captain Eo? Literally used for film ads and now nothing. I mean this would only need like two people to operate- so it should be used for something.
