Will Avatar give AK the boost it needs?

I feel that AK is so second thought. Keeping in mind, I don't got kids, I bang out AK in half a day. I go on KS, EE, and Dino and call it a day.

I wish Disney would've struck while the iron was hot with Avatar.

Anyone think this will be the boost that the park needs?

If the sequel does well then yes.

I think AK is desperate for rides and adding two if not more rides to the park and hopefully a great restaurant will go a long way to boost attendance and give people something to do. Plus an indoor boat ride that blasts the AC will be huge no matter what movie/topic they explore. I also think that even if you are not a fan of the movie, riding on a dragon-like Banshee could be amazing if given the right technology and people will not care if its avatar or downtown NY- flying through the air is still awesome if done correctly.

Plus, I think the night time show, night safari, and enjoying the park at night will keep people there longer too.

I just wish they would add some other rides to (Mystic Manor, please) and some additional restaurants. I think when Pixar comes out with The Good Dinosaur and they replace the eyesore known as Chester and Hesters with this movie, the park will really round out.

No I don't think so if the ride rumors are correct ie a Soarin over Pandora and boat ride - Somehow I'm underwhelmed.

I have kids and it is a half day park. Over time I have seen every square inch of that park.

I do think Avatar will beef it up, by how much???? If you're just there to do rides maybe not??? My kids love the play ground and we walk the Asia trail etc. so we have other things to do along with the rides but if you're a ride only person AK will still probably be a bang it out in the morning park. If you do all the shows then no AK is already a full day.

IF you like animals it's a full day park, If you like rides its a half day or less park

I think it will depend on how well the Pandora area is done, what attractions will be there and people's opinion of the films. If the sequels are a bust, then I would guess this area would be as well.

There are three more Avatar movies in production. Considering their past track record, this is about as hot as the iron has ever been.

I think it will give it a boost. If they add some great night-time lighting in the Pandora area and have a few great rides, it will spark quite a bit of interest. There will be those that will want to experience it at night, so I can see a second surge of people coming to the park after the afternoon parade at MK or after a day at the waterparks.

Animal Kingdom definitely isn't second thought to me right now, and Avatarland will make it even better. I think that area is going to be amazing at night. I have always thought it a little strange that they chose to put such a big presence of a non Disney movie in a park other than Hollywood Studios, but I've always liked the idea of the land. IMHO, even if you haven't seen the movie, or aren't a huge fan of the movie, they can still make an amazing land out of the idea of Pandora. And with 3 more movies already planned, there's sure to be some buzz about it.

From what I've seen so far (and assuming the plans are pared down along the same proportions as other projects in the last 10 years) I feel it's too little, too late.

Still, with nothing else "new" on the horizon, die-hard fans will flock to it when it opens to check it out, and newbies will dutifully add it to their itinerary for a once-over. If it's a crappy addition, WDW will still see a boost, but it will fade over a year or two. If it's a great addition with staying power, the boost will be permanent.

I think the planned nighttime illumination of the Tree of Life and later hours will be as much of a draw as anything else.

I love AK :)

I dislike the Avatar movie, however I will still plan on visiting the new 'land" and enjoy it I'm sure! I wish it was something else, but thats not changing anything. I'll take any new rides, new places to eat and scenery! :D

I only hope it sucks people in from the other parks so that they are less crowded... But it wont suck my family in... We have done AK a couple of times, and all agree that it is pretty much a waste of time... and no one is an avatar fan so for us it means nothing... but hopefully for the sake of crowd control everyone else that goes to WDW will just have to go there.

I can see the addition giving Disney's Animal Kingdom a boost, but I think the biggest question is, at who's expense? Most people have a finite amount of time that they will not expand. Will people stop splitting days between Disney's Animal Kingdom and the Disney-MGM Studios? Will they give up an evening at the EPCOT Center? I do not think it will be enough to stop those willing to venture elsewhere, especially Universal Orlando Resort.

Not going to happen, as MM is contracted only for Hong Kong. Some deal Disney made with the company leasing the land to Disney, where Mystic manor would never be duplicated at any other park.

Really? I thought it had a five year exclusive clause but then could be duplicated? Do you know where you heard this? I am in no way trying to be difficult but this is the first time I've ever heard of this. I'd love to read some more. Thanks for the reply =)

And that is where Disney has the upper hand. There is no way to monitor attendance and attribute it to the nighttime show or later park hours versus Avatar. So, they will see a jump in attendance and report that Avatar is a huge success even if it is really the nighttime additions that are bringing people in. For Disney who is sending all this money, that is a big win....
