Will Avatar give AK the boost it needs?

Really? I thought it had a five year exclusive clause but then could be duplicated? Do you know where you heard this? I am in no way trying to be difficult but this is the first time I've ever heard of this. I'd love to read some more. Thanks for the reply =)
You are correct. The exclusivity deals are not perpetual.

I truly believe the Avatar project and the light show will boost DAK attendance nicely. DAK is a wonderful park and needs that extra something else to make it a must do park. A few rides, exhibits and a resteraunt then a light show and such will make me want to see what it is all about at night time. This new land unless it is poorly done can only enhance the park.

it will be interesting to see what happens... everything right now is just a guess...I see something similar to the DCA makeover.....I see a pretty big jump in attendance and a really big jump in terms of the numbers at night..no more leaving at 3

If the sequel does well then yes.

I think AK is desperate for rides and adding two if not more rides to the park and hopefully a great restaurant will go a long way to boost attendance and give people something to do. Plus an indoor boat ride that blasts the AC will be huge no matter what movie/topic they explore. I also think that even if you are not a fan of the movie, riding on a dragon-like Banshee could be amazing if given the right technology and people will not care if its avatar or downtown NY- flying through the air is still awesome if done correctly.

Plus, I think the night time show, night safari, and enjoying the park at night will keep people there longer too.

I just wish they would add some other rides to (Mystic Manor, please) and some additional restaurants. I think when Pixar comes out with The Good Dinosaur and they replace the eyesore known as Chester and Hesters with this movie, the park will really round out.

James Cameron + number one box office movie of all time = Very successful sequels!!

It's an ambitious project, and I am looking forward to it. It just seems like over time though, it may lose its appeal. We shall see.;)

I think the nighttime show will bring in more money than Avatar. The longer they can keep people in the park the greater chance that people will spend money on the true money makers, food, drink and whatever junk light up toys they sell for that show. Look at world showcase and how many people eat and drink waiting around for Illuminations. It is not the 2 rides that keep them in world showcase till closing time.

I have always thought it a little strange that they chose to put such a big presence of a non Disney movie in a park other than Hollywood Studios, but I've always liked the idea of the land.
There is a problem of putting a non Disney Film for into DHS that doesn't have a presence currently. Pondora has 2 attractions coming with one involving water. You have to think of where in DHS where a Non Disney Movie in Hollywood Studios that can do a land for.

DHS right now has a land issue besides having a theme problem, and layout problems. I know Disney got a rid of the Parade Storage area for DHS. The only other way to create more space for DHS Right now is creating a parking structure like they are doing for Disney Springs right now, but would TDO spend that type of money is the thing.

While there are places where currently where Avatar could go, but it wouldn't make any sense like where Backlot Tour because Pixar Place is small at this time and would be better for more Pixar Attractions. Where the Sounds Dangerous and American Idol Experience builds are aren't big for the Pandora attractions.

There also is a fact that a Star Wars expansion will be happening at some point and that means some current space of DHS will be used up that is not completely know where it would be located based on there has been multiple rumors where the location could be.

I don't know if Avatar will do that based on the amount of attractions added to AK from Avatar. AK to me needs more than 2 more attraction after Avatar for a whole day park. I know KS also will be run as at night and there is a Night time show coming, but that doesn't sound like that is enough for AK.

The other thing this depends is will the upcoming Avatar movies be successful. Right now Avatar is a forgotten movie despite being a huge box office hit and I don't the excitement is there right now for new land for AK.

well cars 2 was pretty much a dud and it didn't hurt cars land....as most would say the ip doesn't matter as long it is quality work
James Cameron has a bit of history of doing well with sequels

Honestly no. AK needs more attractions and it does not need to be Avatar related. I love looking at the animals but to that point - you can only look at animals but so much. Avatar does not seem exciting and I doubt it will boost attendance or result in AK becoming a full day park. If you are talking 2 or 3 more rides you may only be adding on an hour or 2 at most.

If you were being honest, you would say, "of course it will boost attendance." Even if you are not a fan, it is going to bring more people to AK than the past. People may still not stay as long like they do at MK or EPCOT, but more people will decide to go. Avatar may not be popular with traditional Disney fans, but in general, it was a very popular movie in the US and there are still sequels to come out.

This is my opinion and I stand by my thoughts. If I am proved otherwise - then be it.

I suspect it will lead to a modest boost in attendance, but a larger boost in "keeping people in the park longer" -- which Disney will certainly hope to translate into increased merch and food sales. I actually think the night show will have the greater impact on affecting people's touring patterns by encouraging people to come in the evening to DAK. As long as the daytime parade sticks around, I wonder if we might start to see more people go to DAK after lunch and stay for the parade and then night show, doing the rides in between.
