Wilderness Lodge Refurbishment

We are thinking of switching from FQ to WL in Early December. Is this just a soft goods refurb?

WL had been booked up for Early December for months, then suddenly they released a bunch of rooms. Any chance this means the refurb was pushed back. Seems odd to drop a bunch of rooms but then entire floors may be closed at the same time

It’s possible. I hope so! I couldn’t figure out why we got such a great rate and then I heard about the refurb going on and assumed that was the reason since a lot of folks avoid resorts that are undergoing a refurb. I hope your theory is correct.

Has anyone been there lately? According to the original post, the refurb should be starting any time now.
I'm there late January 2019 and am not concerned about this in the least, but curious as to where the project is.

The refurb will only be on the north-facing side of the Lodge (non DVC) to individual rooms and hallways. No work on lobby or outside areas. The work will likely be done one floor at a time which will be closed off to guests. Other floors will still be open during the refurbishment.

I did not expect to have any issues--in all likelihood I won't even see anything.
I will check back later this year to make sure that coffee pots aren't being changed. We will need lots of coffee and I plan to bring extra--in whatever form is necessary.
yes, I know we can ask for more....but I'm from the Midwest.....and that seems a bit too "pushy" for my tastes.
AND I want to make sure I have it when I need it!

Has anyone here chosen the Nature room view option? Are they mainly located on the left side looking towards dvc?

Artist Point Update per Managment - Complete menu change. Major back of house/kitchen renovation. Restaurant & tapestries to remain largely untouched.

CM rumor - Smokey Mushroom Soup to move to the Territory Lounge.

General Lodge Update per Management - 4 original chandeliers to remain now that LED lighting has been added (Last year the CM rumor was that the fixtures were going to be replaced).

You know that it’s to become a character dining restaurant? That was bound to cause some changes, including to the menu. Interested to know if it’ll change to be a buffet, stick with a changed menu or a hybrid option.

If I remember right artist point has beautiful high ceiling murals in it? Would just hate to see those go for another princess fest.

Hmmm been looking at rooms for Club Level and cannot find any after Jan 25th 2019. Wonder if that is when it will be shut down for refurb....been looking last few weeks.....wonder if it has begun yet on any floor?

I was told by the club staff that when the 7th floor is being refurbished there will be rooms on other floors to accommodate club guests. The club lounge is not undergoing any refurbishments, only rooms.

Yeah I figured that as it was just done last year. In fact now that I think on it in week prior to my trip it says Standard Room CLub Access.
Soooooo think that is right.....after Christmas before the busier times. I had seen it available over a month ago, but maybe they had not decided on dates yet. If I had made a ressie then bet I would have been offered a standard room with Club Access and maybe a better rate?

Anyone heard any rumors when the redesign of Artist point will be done, going for thanksgiving and would love to snag a reservation? But obviously they are taking reservations yet? Any help would be appreciated

I would love to know too. We are going in April and I really want to do the Snow White experience since my daughter loves the movie.

Hope someone reports on that asap.....so curious to check it out! Sounds like fun. It was rather odd that when I called for discount on existing reservation inside main lodge they offered me a discounted room in Boulder Ridge for much less.....nope, the reason I am going TO the lodge is to BE in the lodge.....

I imagine this is because of the refurbishment. So they’ll be removing blocks of rooms at a time, so will be trying to accommodate people elsewhere, rather than have to tell them “sorry, no availability”.

Pretty sure it was like $2008 for 7 nights..........worth considering but....my heart is elsewhere.
