Hello everyone. I will be traveling to WDW in a few weeks and we are staying at The wilderness lodge. Don't have much info on it so I am asking everyone here for info, tips, recommendations, reviews, ect. Is there any must dos, any secrets I should know about, any Christmas activities or regular resort activities I should participate in. In other words please share all your knowledge on the lodge.

Thanks in advance for all your help.

Ask for a sheet at check in that has some info about the resort such as hidden Mickeys. Its the only resort we have stayed at that gave us one. We are checking in there next week. Ill find out if they still do it. Otherwise, just enjoy the decorations!

We stayed at The WL on September and enjoyed our visit very much. The Lobby is quite impressive. From the minute you walk in, you feel that you have been transported to a lodge in the northwest. It is spectacular! Be sure to study all of the columns and carvings in the lobby and really throughout the lodge. Eat at Artist point one night and enjoy the atmosphere, service and great food. I found that the earlier you hit Roaring forks, the better. It is small and the service is slow. Take the boat to The CR for dinner at The Wave...we found the meal very good and service was great. One morning take the boat to the CR. hop on the monorail and have breakfast at the Grand Floridian Cafe. To be honest, I can only handle one meal at Whispering Canyons....it is too noisy and intrusive for me. Be sure to enjoy a relaxing boat ride back to the WL from The MK.....very peaceful and romantic. Hope it's not too chilly when you visit.
I found that the WiFi connection is my room (6069...overlooking the lobby) was spotty at best. The connection in the lobby was very good.
Enjoy your stay and have a magical trip! :cat:

Eat at Whispering canyon and ask for some ketchup. Sit in the lobby and take it all in, you'll know what I mean when get there. Try the "drunkin donuts" at the territorial lounge. As mentioned ask to be the Flag family. I just wish Ranger Stan was still there, enjoy.

If you are looking for a very nice restaurant, look no further than right in WL at Artist Point, especially if you like salmon, or a nice steak. After dinner you can walk around the grounds of WL. Very cool scenery at night.

Like everyone else says- boat ride to MK.
Also, if you've never seen the Electric Water Pageant, it's worth checking out. It comes by nightly at about 9:30 on Bay Lake. It's not high tech or modern, just very "Disney" in the classic sense. Worth a look-see.
The quiet pool over by the villas is very nice and actually pretty quiet most of the time if you're looking for that.
WE love taking a walk on the nature trail, I take a jog on it. I routinely see deer pretty much on the trail or right by it. They usually stay there and are pretty used to folks. It's a great walk and if you are into it and don't mind the time, it''l take you over to Fort Wilderness.
It's the BEST resort there. We are DVC members at the Villas and love it. Oh, by the way, in the lobby of the Villas by the fireplace is a nice display about Walt and trains including an actual freight car from his backyard railroad. Comfy chairs, fireplace, quiet. A great place to wind-down at the end of the day.

We checked in late Wednesday night and are moving today to the BWV. Had I known how much I would love this resort....I would have never split the stay...
Definitely eat at Whispering Canyon either breakfast or dinner.
Avoid Roaring Forks during the normal eating hours...lines are terrible and your food will be cold by the time you check out paying for it.
Definitely do some lobby time. Saw a couple in the early evening sharing a bottle of wine and the cheese flight offered at Artist Point out in the lobby...looked like a great idea...I almost did it last night but the kiddos were threatening melt down after the Chip and Dale campfire.
If you have kids ride the boat to Ft Wilderness around 5 and have dinner at Trail's End at 5, then catch the inner park bus to the campfire area and see Chip and Dale from 6-6:30. At 6:30 the chuck wagon opens and they sell the stuff to make smores, popcorn, hot dogs, water...they have singing and the kids can roast marshmallows and make them into smores...The movie starts at 7:40. These are times for the winter months.. Bring a blanket or two so you can make yourself comfortable on the benches.
The pool is not that heated but the hot tubs are nice.
They also have movies on the beach here at WL.
Apparently the Villas right next door have a huge train exhibit in the lobby.

This is a wonderful resort..in some ways I think it could easily become my favorite...Enjoy!!!

Yes you are 3 days away right ??? My DD29 has 2 more sleeps and @vitani88 arrives Tuesday too. I love Thanksgiving here, crowds or not. You get the Christmas decorations, the music, the parks ...and I came a little early so it was less crowds at the beginning and I am staying a little later so I get to do MVMCP too!

Thanks for all the posts and info. I heard a while back that they were refurbishing the rooms. Anyone know if all are done and what the rehab consisted of.

If you want peace and quiet do NOT stay in the pool courtyard rooms -- its the loudest pool area I have experienced at any of the resorts and it echoes in the entire interior area -- ask for an outside facing room way from the pool courtyard
