Wilderness Lodge DVC additions - Copper Creek Villas & Cabins

Certainly during construction you are probably right. But since these aren't on the water I suspect they will look appropriately like lake cabins nestled into the trees. Probably double wide versions of the Fort Wilderness cabins.
Though I've never stayed at them, this concept reminds me of boating past the SS treehouse villas on the sassagoula. From the river, it looks like the tree houses blend in quite well with their surrounding natural setting. Hopefully DVC can pull off a similar aesthetic with the WL Cabins.

Additional comment: As long as the cabins fit the definition of a leasehold condominium in Florida real estate law (owner doesn't own the land but has the right to use it for a specified period of time [the contract period]), then Disney is free to DVC the cabins.

Maybe I haven't read enough posts, but this is the first time I remember seeing DVC used as a verb...

I absolutely DVC it!

I dont recall mentioning the water park at all in my statement. Im not even talking about the water park,,,you guys are on two different topics here, the wilderness lodge cabins and the so called fort wilderness dvc....I Was referring to to prior comments about the addition of the cabins and the clearing of trees and shoreline in general.

Well, you did respond to a comment about the plans for FW DVC Note2001 provided a link to. Sorry, I assumed you were commenting on those plans.

Yeah better preserve the "natural" beauty of that shoreline.

Pssst... who wants to tell him the shoreline is man-made?

All we've seen are two maps Disney filed with SFWMD to obtain the necessary permits. Until we see architectural drawings, we really don't know exactly what the cabins look like and how they will integrate with the existing foliage. But I bet some of the insiders have a general idea. And I bet they will be more of the treehouse (not elevated - woodsy and cabin like) style, not the Tahiti bungalows at Poly, to fit the style of Wilderness Lodge. I'd love it if they were more log than stone. A good use for the pines that will be sacrificed to build them. And will fit with Disney's recycle policy.

I also almost never see anyone on the beach. Like, I'm lucky to see one group on the beach during an entire vacation. There are certainly more guests staying in the bungalows nightly than there were guests sitting on that beach (not being allowed to swim) daily. FWIW, there is still beach at Poly. Just less.

That's been my obsevation also. And I've stayed at almost every resort with a beach. Who would want to go to a beach if you cannot enter the water. Especially when there is an inviting pool nearby. I would guess the only time there are more than a handful of people on the beaches at GF, Poly, WL and FW is during Wishes.

DVC: Thousands of people spending tens of thousands of dollars for decades of Disney vacations.

Resort Beaches: A few people spending zero dollars for a few minutes of Disney relaxation.

And you object to the former out of fear of losing the latter.

I never said I objected. I just said it was going to happen, doesn't mean I object, but I know many people that do walk or jog on those beaches or in the case of the former Poly beach (watch fireworks or the water parade). There are people that like them and will miss them for that reason or for the reason that they just like the way the "landscaping" looks with a beach. I was just pointing that out, not saying that I'm going to get into fetal position and cry over a missing beach that hardly exists as it is at WL. I'm a DVC person so you don't need to coach me on DVC and how much money it takes in annually.

My only objection to the bungalows on Poly beach would be if I happened to have a first floor studio in the building(s) right behind them. Because my "beach" view would be of the fence and the bungalows behind it. And I would be unhappy if that "beach" view cost the same as the person in the next building over....

Disney has downgraded the booking category on rooms that have been obstructed. They're no longer "theme park view" or whatever it was.

That's good. Or the next topic on this board to reach 150 pages would be "Guests who found out their beach/park view in a Poly studio was a fence - and they threatened to sue!" lol.

Disney is usually very fair when it comes to view categories. This was my view in April at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I thought I had been upgraded to Savanna View but the cast member confirmed that it was, in fact, a Standard View room because the view of the savanna wasn't considered "good enough."

There used to be a lot of people on the beaches. That all went away when they stopped allowing swimming. When I was a kid the beaches were very lively.
