Whyd they have to remake A Nightmare on Elm Street?

Most of the horror movies we're seeing in theaters these days are remakes of older versions. Some are classics, like Halloween or Friday the 13th. Some are lesser known, like Prom Night or Black Christmas.
But yet, the trend of remaking horror movies doesn't seem to be stopping, and I myself often wonder why.

Back in its day, The Exorcist was the most shocking film audiences had ever seen, but it's pretty tame by today's standards. Perhaps these films are being remade just so they can say "Hey, look at how much better we are at being able to scare you!" afraid that audiences won't appreciate the older films any longer.
I don't know about you, but the original Halloween is pretty darn scary to me. I don't see the need to remake these films at all.

That is the only answer, I mean come on...are there no more creative people in this world? I kinda feel like everyone on this planet is in one of the Axiom scenes from WALL-E.
It seems like most of them are writing comic books these days. It also seems like Hollywood is to scared to take a chance on anything these days. If a film can't bring in $100 million on an opening weekend they will not even give it a second look.

But other than that, ugh, no more horror remakes please. Its really just getting embarrassing now. :brick:

To be fair, Alive was directed and created by the same guy who directed and created D9, so in my mind it's original.
In reality any adaptation of a short story, film, comic, book etc takes a good bit of creativity. It is not like Peter Jackson could just hand out copies of The Lord of the Rings and say "Here is your script guys" but I do tend to have a little bit more respect for an original film created from nothing.

I'm still baffled about remaking Yellow Submarine with Performance Capture. While they are at it, they should remake Lawrence of Arabia with sock puppets.

Worst of all: Cowboy Bebop starring KEANU REEVES.

Hollywood, what HAVE I done to tick you off?

^Don't forget Keanu Reeves as Jekyll AND Hyde. (Trust me, any and all "he can't even act as two different PEOPLE, let alone the same person with two personalities" comments have been heard before. )
