Why the Hatred Towards Meg Crofton and Jay Rasulo?

I don't really understand why most of you folks hate Meg Crofton and Jay Rasulo.

It sounds like most folks have been bashing them for no reason and are refusing to give them chances to prove themselves.:(

Meg Crofton knows nothing more than HR and Public Relations... not the type of hands-on person that a place like WDW needs, and Jay Rasulo is an idiot... his Disneyparks campaign is cheapening the Disney theme park name, and YoAMD is hemorraghing money left and right, since people can see right through it.

As bad as this may sound to those who know me, I think Al Weiss is presently as bad as Rasulo... something which I wouldn't have said a few years ago. All 3 are capable given the right circumstances, but not now.

The Pixar leadership presently being abosorbed by Disney may be a saving grace :) And Annie Hamburger can write a damned good show :D

Personally I have no problem with them.

Most "bashers' live in this world where Disney should NEVER change ANYTHING (For an effective example of what happens then...try visitng Opryland!) A lot of the "bashers" think that current management is not doing what Walt would do. (Hint he's dead, unless you are channeling him HOW do you know what he would do?) I think some folks really believe he can be defrosted and come back to run Disney.

Just ignore the "bashers" figure that they are just jealous. (By the way, from what I am reading resort bookings and park admissions are UP. Makes you wonder why current promos are so "horrid" LOL!)

I neither hate/bash nor admire... The thread title is the first I saw [or at last acknowledged] their names.

I'm guessing they're corporate Disney people, but other than the mouse it started with, I pay no attention...

Hate? No...not at all.
Bashing....not really.
As I have said before. Meg Crofton seems very nice, I have nothing personal against her. However, professionally...I don't feel she belongs in her job. She has no theme park experience other than the business/HR end. She was given the job to be a puppet. For who?

Rasulo that's who. His horrible "global" structure and endless promotions are doing a great disservice to the parks division. He should not be in that job. The only reason, or so I'm told, he's hanging on is that he is kissing up to Lassater and throwing cash at DL/DCA. Unless things change, both business wise and with morale within the company....He won't last the year.

When there is no more merchandise that says "Epcot" or "Magic Kingdom" just "Disney Parks"....thank Jay.

I was waiting for your thoughts on this one Lee. Thank you!
Now, what does Corrus think?

Personally, I don't dislike either as I have not dealt with them on any personal level, but I can say that this does lead [somewhat] back to the accusations of micromanagement made towards Eisner's administration, and at the current moment, I don't deny that these accusations could be proven true. When I was first informed of Crofton's appointment to her latest position in the company, I was skeptical (as most of the time I am about any power switch within the company). She hasn't proven my expectations wrong yet, but she hasn't done too much in her position other than PR services. I can't judge on just that at the moment. I give her another 3 months before my verdict. As for Jay Rasulo, that is a whole other book for me to open, but I want to hear Corrus' and Mousermerf's opinions first, just for interest's sake.

Give them a chance? Rasulo has had more than a chance and I don't approve of his job. Asking me to "give Rasulo a chance" would be like asking me to give our President a chance. He's had enough time to impress his views regarding the future of the parks upon me. Meg Crofton and Ed Grier are Rasulo's puppets and you would be lucky indeed to actually see them in the parks. This doesn't mean they aren't nice people. Did you ever meet Cynthia Harriss? She was incredibly nice and I might even say charismatic with a winning smile. I might even argue that she cared about Disneyland--she did bring Believe...There's Magic in the Stars to the park, which was incredible and surely expensive...and she called for a rebuild of the carousel. But, she was not in the right position. She could have been in charge of marketing--and from that position, probably pushed for new fireworks because they are marketable. Crofton, Grier, and Rasulo would also be fine in different positions, but they are misplaced where they are. Crofton is not about to funnel any of the Pixar folks creativity over to Orlando, and we need someone who is strong and outspoken to speak for the parks and call for such discussions to take place. No one is so naive as to think President of the resorts makes new rides get built, but they can call for these discussions to take place and make arguments to the penny pinchers about the profitability of such decisions. With no one to defend the parks, they stagnate. WDW is stagnating. Folks like Matt Ouimet put together several important skills for a President: he was well-spoken, omnipresent in the parks, willing to tell people what was wrong with the parks and how to fix them, and able to argue that such expensive changes would be profitable, and guess what! He was right. The Happiest Homecoming on Earth made a lot of money, while we can't say the same for the Happiest Celebration on Earth and now the Year of a Million Dreams.

Al Weiss is doing nothing to change things for WDW, and he's spent enough time at WDW to know better. They really just need someone to come along and clean out all the riff-raff. Not sure what Bob Iger is waiting for...maybe for his ship(s) to come in...

For those who don't know.

Jay Rasulo is the chairman of the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts division of TWDC. He ran DLRP from 2000-2002.

Meg Crofton is president of the Walt Disney World resort. She ran Shades of Green for a while, then was VP of HR for WDW.

more important to point out for Rasulo is that he has been the president of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts since 2002. He was renamed chairman in fall of 2005. So, he has been at the top for quite some time...

Well Rasulo is no where NEAR as bad as Paul Presser ( because let's face it, Pressler was Satan), but I have been very unhappy with some of Rasulo's moves. All of the trends with putting character themed rides is simply for the purpose of marketing with complete disreguard for the quality of the attraction or whether or not it fits into a park's theme.

My biggest problem, that I'm aware of as just a regular person, is the whole "Disney Parks" debacle.

I also have problems with what has become of the Disney-MGM Studios.

A lot of people believe, I being one of them, that Ed and Meg were put into their positions because they did not pose a threat to Jay Rasulo and were essentially becoming his puppets. As much as I like Al Weiss and had the pleasure of meeting him numerous times in my 10 years with Disney.....he too is a Rusulo puppet and I can't help but think that he is just waiting in the wings for either Jay's departure or promotion.

I too wish that people like Jusdon Green (very, very nice man), Lee Cockrell and Matt Ouimet were still with the company because they actually cared about the parks and it's cast. Just look at what Matt did with the appearance and morale at DL. When Jusdon and Lee were at WDW it was not uncommon, especially for Lee, to walk the parks talking to both the guests and cast....it does make a difference.

I was actually flying to Disneyland when I heard of Meg's promotion....I have to admit I was surprised because unless you are in the company you really had never heard of her....and that is exactly what Jay wants...atleast in my opinion. Al was becoming to high profile especially in Orlando and Lee, I'm thinking, would have questioned some of the decisions made. Thus Al gets promoted and Lee departs.

I would agree that Meg needs time to make her mark within WDW, Ed Grier has thus far proven to be a failure in the shadows of Matt.

I too believe that Jay's days are numbered but whether it is Lasseter or Mr. Iger that pulls the trigger, to me, will be the interesting part.

I'm not an insider, dont know much about these people, other than who they are and the complaints about them...however Meg has been in the job less than seven months, Ed for less than 8 months. So far no rave reviews, but thats simply not enough time to know...If a year from now HM is completely fixed up, Jungle Cruise is updated, Space down for a complete rebuild and a new E-ticket has been announced for somewhere on property...Meg will look a lot better, right? As for YoaMD promo...I know a lot of people hate it, along with "Disney Parks" but ultimately its just an ad campaign, and there always is an ad campaign...might as well be this one...and no one will know whether it worked until its over and the final numbers are in...so in other words...too early to call these folks failures, IMHO

Now, I think it's time to hear from someone who doesn't have anything negative to say about Jay Rasulo.

And you folks only hate Jay because of the "global" restructuring and the YoMD campaign, which ARE NOT failures.

Folks like Ouimet probably left on their OWN terms instead, so quit conclusion-jumping!

The YoMD is a failure. It has done nothing to bring people into the parks who wouldn't be there already. And the globalization of the parks is ruining the beauty of the individual parks. You can thank Jay for there not being a celebration for Epcot's 25th. That is enough for me to dislike the man immensely.

WRONG! The YoMD IS a success! And people are still coming to the parks and resorts in droves. So many people are going through the gates that there's hardly any "off-seasons" anymore.

And the globalization of the parks is ruining the beauty of the individual parks.

The globalization IS NOT ruining a thing! The parks still have their individual beauty!

You can thank Jay for there not being a celebration for Epcot's 25th. That is enough for me to dislike the man immensely.

That's just another flimsy excuse to despise him!

Now, can we please hear from somebody who does NOT see Rasulo in a negative light?!
