Why the dislike for American Idol in HS?

Seen a few negative posts around it.

I thought it was fun. Sure it was several years after American Idols prime but still entertaining none the less. Some more than others depending on the luck of the draw of who you watch but I never seem to see a positive post regarding it.

Heading for the great escape.
Id imagine, that like the program its based on, its because its mince, karaoke without the bar. But its great for Disney after all the entertainments being provided by people who have paid them to be entertained. Cha ching. I of course use the term entertainment as a sarcastic term.

We have never done it and probably never will. For us, it's the feeling of too little too late and I can turn on the TV or radio or my iPod to hear singing. Don't need to hear it as part of a staged show with no other acting, show, or movie to relate back to such like with a play or musical.

I loved it! I could have sat there all day watching. Next trip Im going to make sure I see the last one with each of the winners. I do not watch Idol on TV.

I think it's neat and we see a show at least once. I too would love to stay and see a finale show; I almost did last year but didn't make it inside in time. There is something cool about seeing an average guest (from all over the world) getting onstage and performing. I think the stage looks great and the judges are cool. The 'Simon' judge is hilarious.

I will admit that this year, I saw a very low crowd level. We came in late and they stuck us in the very back rows, which made no sense because there was hardly anyone in the theater. That's a shame. But I still like it.

i didnt mind the show itself other than being a little long.my feeling and concern with the show is that its not actually a park guest performing like they say and the voting is not real.what im saying is the performers that are selected are disney employees with a preselected winner.when we visited it was entertaining but the winner was obviously not the best singer.but it is a nice break from the heat and entertaining so yes i still enjoyed it.

They are actual park guests.

I go twice a year, and go to Hollywood Studios at least twice per trip. I have never set foot in there. It carries absolutely no appeal for me. For one, I never even watched American Idol. Second, it's basically karaoke. I've always thought about doing it once myself for the experience, but never seem to get around to it. Just a big meh in my opinion.

I've only seen it once, but I enjoyed it a lot! I thought it was a lot of fun, and the performances were also pretty good.

I like Idol because it's interactive and because it's relevant to the Studios theme, but it already looks like it's getting "long in the tooth". I think Idol gives most people a bitter taste in their mouth because it replaced Superstar Television, which overall was the better attraction.

I only remember bits and pieces, but after seeing the full show on Vimeo, I would agree on bringing Superstar Television back to the Studios.

As someone who never watches the show, I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. We now go every time where at DHS, it's nice that it's a bit of different show every time, unlike so many of the shows at DHS which we've seen now dozens of times (Indy, VOTLM, LMA)

I'm not really sure it's relevant whether you've seen the show, so fair play if you want to do other things but I don't think not seeing/liking the show is a valid reason not to even step foot in it. I don't like Star Wars (I know - weirdo right?) but I enjoy the ride for what it is.

Not quite a fair comparison, as Star Tours is an actual motion simulator ride.

Whereas AIE is just sitting down and listening to people sing and be judged. It's like a high school talent show.
