Why such a large queue for little mermaid?

The assumed narrator who is telling the story, but we are never told when this narrator lives. It could be the future for us but the narrator's past. It is also more of a story device to create the myth structure than a literal device. "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..." is the is space counterpart to "Once upon a time, in a kingdom far away..."

So more like a past from the future? Or perhaps, a flashback to the future? I don't think any of it is based on time before 2012. At any rate it is still not meant to be an indication of what we think the future might be like...only science fiction created by ones imagination for the purposes of entertainment. Although it may very well fall within the concept of Tomorrowland, that is, the future that isn't likely, it still is more relevant at DHS in Florida.

Have you not seen any of the Star Wars films? All of the films start with the words "A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away..." That is all we get, then the crawl setting up what is happening.

Star Wars feels like an ill fit in Tomorrowland to me. TL is more 2001 than Star Wars. SW is Tolkien in Space, it is set in its own mythological world. I would sooner put it in Fantasyland than in TL.

But DHS feel like a perfect fit. I like ST just where it is. Put Mission: Space in TL, it was made for it, it lacks the depth needed for EPCOT but feels like the natural successor to Mission to Mars.

Even as much as I can't stand all the "just move this attraction to an entire other park" talk that happens sometimes, as if these uniquely constructed places were mere lego blocks, . . . I have to say - I *totally* agree with you here. Star Wars needs to stay where it is, and M:S would be better in MK.

In fact, Tomorrowland has so few decent attractions that I am firmly against any attempts to move Laugh Floor UNLESS something at least as good or better *replaces* it. Ripping out yet more attractions from a MK that seems to have less and less as it is, makes no sense to me.

Umm, that is a stretch. While I agree Star Wars "fits" in tomorrow land, I was simply joking that technically, it takes place in the past. The very first line is a "a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away." There is no basis with which to say the "narrator" is from the future, though I have no proof that the "narrator" is not -- but I'm going to take the "long time ago" at face value, which seems a more reasonable reading. As Lazyboy mentioned, this is all just George Lucas's way of saying, this story ain't about Earth.

I assume that Mermaid in MK will get more foot traffic than DCA's version. However, Mermaid might have a Country Bear type problem (Disneyland version) as the only reason to walk around FLE to do something is if you're going to BoG, to ride Mermaid, or to go to the Mermaid M&G, otherwise you can just walk on by . . . Some guests with boys might be shy given that the Mermaid M&G might be more prominent than the entrance for the ride.

It also looks like 7DMT will have its exit and entrance opposite Pooh, meaning you could experience this ride when it opens, and bypass Mermaid from a safe distance.

I do believe that the "Gaston's Square" is a setup for a Belle ride as right north of this is a huge grassy lawn/area, inside of the train tracks even, seems like building a Beauty and the Beast dark ride here will hopefully happen at some point.

This is probably a legit concern. I still think that TDO missed out by not utilizing their space as efficiently as possible. Specifically, in this case, they could have used the plot of the 7DMT and added a smaller dark ride on the far side (opposite LM) -- say, a Sleeping Beauty ride where the queue/entrance was the forest cottage she grew up in but the show building is enclosed in part of the 7DMT mountain. Make it in a part of the 7DMT where there is only elevated track which would be higher than the Sleeping Beauty ride. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think you could have fit a ride the size of SWSA into that space while still being able to do the 7DMT well; you might have had to narrow the walkway between the 7DMT and LM to get it done, I guess.

With a second ride along that pathway, I think it would help to draw people to that area of Fantasyland since there would be more "attractions" listed on the map and allow for more to do than just admire the buildings (which look to be fantastic).

The massive differences in the lines of certain attractions between the two coasts is simply baffling. That Soarin' and Midway Mania command huge lines in WDW while Disneyland's rarely top an hour, and how the opposite is true of Star Tours, is something I might never understand.

It's a bit because the situation is reversed...

ST at DL is in the middle of the prime park.. at WDW, it's in the 3rd park. DHS's version also has 50% more capacity than DL's.
Soarin' is in a ride starved park that also happens to be the big hitter park.. where at DLR, Soarin' is surrounded by rides accessible to both young and old in the 'secondary' park.
Midway at DHS is also lost in a sea of rides, while at DHS, there are less family accessible rides.

Basically the demand at the WDW parks is largly attributed to the segmentation of rides into the seperate parks.. where at DLR, all of the the rides are almost thrown into one pot. StarTours at DLR is boosted by being in DL, and the lower capacity. But it's draw is more than that.. considering it can hold those types of lines even in the face of line-adverse DLR fans who turn their nose up at anything over a 20min wait unless it's Indy.. or now RSR.
