Why no love for the Speedway?

The future should not smell like diesel. End of story. Besides, cars with wheels? What kind of future is this? I could see modern cars being futuristic if Tomorrowland was Discoveryland, with a more Da Vinci-era view of the future, but that's not the case.

It's a nice ride (aside from the fact that it should be electric), but it just doesn't belong in Tomorrowland.

Because its noisy, smelly, and extremely low tech compared to Disney's other offerings. You can find higher tech go carts off property, it really is an embarrassment that it is still around.

I love Disney rides because they are unique and themed. I can drive a car anywhere. There is nothing unique about this attraction.

Yeah, it's the noise and the smell that makes the Speedway so unappealing. Hong Kong Disneyland has hybrid electric cars, so perhaps that technology might come to the Magic Kingdom someday soon.

Why does it seem like that everyone hates the Tomorrowland Speedway?

It's boring, it's smelly, the wait is long, it's hot in the summer, it takes up a ton of space, it's noisey, it doesn't fit in with the theme of tomorrowland, you can find one at pretty much any amusement park in the USA (and sometimes better themed), a state of the art E-ticket could be there..

I think I pretty much covered all the reasons.

The only good thing about it is that it allows little kids to feel like they are driving otherwise no...just no.

it always has a good queue to it though. we rode first time ever in august, and i thought it was a bit slow, but quite fun for a first timer. probably wouldn't go on it again though.

If they would only turn it into a tron light cycle gridway! Maybe have a show building towards tea cups and new dumbo to make the transition to fantasyland/tomorrowland a lot better. Have the cycle shoot out of the show building and race towards the giant turn towards space mountain. This attraction would take care of two things. One it would really revitalize tomorrowland with an outdoor attraction themed with colors and such. Two it would add a much needed REAL e-ticket attraction to the magic kingdom. This might not even be that far fetched since lee spilled the beans on project z.

i agree with some, but not all. it IS too slow, and should atleast be rethemed. but it is a staple of the park, one of the original rides. Personally, id LOVE to get one of those cars, id have the coolest go cart anywhere, and i would drive it to work in the summer, lol

if they want to keep it and it stays at its current speed, then they need to shorten the track to open more space for other things around the area, and rethem it somehow with show buildings like someone said. remember the effect in if u had wings where you were surrounded by screens and it looked like you were goining really fast? that effect would be good here, cheap and simple to do.

Not sure what all the complaints are about. It is what it is. It doesn't hide what it actually is because you can see it. Yes it takes up a lot of space but it has been there since 1971 and it always gets the crowds. That's the thing, the line up is huge everytime, obviously it's still a popular ride. People don't walk off there expecting Space Mountain.

Besides, I have never been to Disneyland, but why do people hate the Speedway but love the Autopia (I think that's how you spell it)? It's the same ride, no?

Turning TLS into a light cycle gridway is by far the best idea I have heard for getting rid of such a tired, outdated attraction. Awesome idea man!

Wow I can't believe how many people are hating on Speedway. This a Disney classic from the great mind of Walt himself. When he was promoting Disneyland he would say how Tomorrowland Speedway is a place where children can drive cars by themselves.

These forums are taking the true spirit of Disneyland and Magic Kingdom away. Everyone is saying how you want to take out all the lower class ticket rides and put in E tickets all around the park. This is going to take away from all children rides and family fun and just make it into a thrill park. I say keep Speedway cause there is nothing more exciting than seeing a 8 year old steer a car for the first time and them having control.

It's funny that it's based in Tomorrowland but the cars look like they are right out of the 1970's...which they are! Also, you can't even steer the damned things. Worst ride in the MK IMO. How hard would it be to just change the vehicles to quiet, clean, electric powered vehicles featuring the
Cars characters? No brainer.:brick:
