Im sure its been talked about before but how has a movie with such a following and massive popularity and a movie that had a lot of pressure on it being Disney's first hand drawn movie for many number of years have such a small presence in parks???

In Paris the show has been closed for a few years!

Disneyland has no real showing of it!

And wdw a 4 park resort has only a show!!

Surely a dark ride would work perfectly for this movie! And i know maybe Beauty and The Beast would be a little more deserving but with the love its receiving in the FLE maybe a dark ride on the Lion King would be a great idea esp with it returning to theatres shortly??

Sorry for the rant but this is my Fave Disney Movie and belive it deserves a much bigger presence in Parks than a few random mentions and 1 show???

Any thoughts???

I'm not sure a lack of attractions equates to there being no love for the movie.

Disney is set to re-release it soon in 3D, a not inconsiderable investment on their part.....

Seriously? A show in AK which many consider the best on property, a movie in Epcot and suites in AoA isn't enough for you? Not many movies are better represented than the Lion King.

Also, I've always thought it was over rated. Shhh.

Just for the record there are two Lion King attractions (FotLK, and TCoL), plus the movie is represented in Mickey's Philharmagic, there is a small land in DAK called Rafiki's Planet watch and has a very popular Broadway show.

The show is Great!!

The movie is filler and anyone arguing otherwise is clutching at straws!!

And yes it will be represented but so will Nemo and Mermaid which both will have rides plus shows by then!

Love The Lion King.

I got to see Festival of the Lion King two weeks ago and it really is the best show @ WDW.

Actually, I think Little Mermaid was the first hand drawn animation in that era - Lion King was the first Blockbuster.

I also believe that the concept & feel of Animal Kingdom was inspired by The Lion King. Whether it's true or not, in my mind AK doesn't exist without Lion King and I love AK.

And there's only so much space in these parks. Not every movie can have it's place in them. It doesn't mean the movie is "unloved".....

Oh i know and i def see your point, i just see the lion king as being much more deserved of space than others... Stitch for example :brick:

Yes it does, so does Bambi, Fox and Hound,101 Dalmations,Lady and the Tramp,These are classics and made Disney what it is. Why Star wars, why things that are Disney arn't so much in the parks but things non Disney are.. I know they need a well rounded park, but Stitch is a waste and could be replaced with one of the older Disney Movies that everyone would enjoy..

I won't say the movie is anything but filler. But still, Lion King ranks up there among the best represented films in the parks. There are other very deserving films that are not represented as well.

For my money, Aladdin is a better movie with very little representation in the parks. Up until FLE, that was true of Beauty and the Beast as well. And then there are classics which are barely represented at all.

Little Mermaid, Nemo and Toy Story are up at the top. But Lion King isn't far behind.

Yes i believe without TLK there would be no AK so really a ride would seem obvious

AGREE!!!

Although some of those were not the cash cow that TLK was which seems to be Disneys drive

I don't dislike it. But for me, it doesn't hold up with LM, BatB and Aladdin. Many people consider Pocohantis to be when the quality fell off. But I say it actually dipped with Lion King. Lion King was still good enough, but not great. It was however very marketable and made oodles of money.

I realize I'm in the minority. But no one in my family especially cares for the Lion King. We never pull that DVD out of its case.
