Why I may not go again

It's funny even while waiting in line for FOP, the people behind me wouldn't stop complaining non stop about how they deserved to be first in line and how they deserved to ride first and how they deserved the priority.....yet in the same breath, wouldn't stop talking about how they didn't like the Avatar movies or don't want to ever watch them and how overrated Avatar/Pandora is.

Don't even know why they're riding but it's the 'all about me" mentality trend.

I'm sure it happens at other parks too but I have never come across it much at other parks.

"We are going to be queue mates for the next 90 minutes and I don't want to hear your incessant negativity. You see these??? yes, they are exactly what they look like. If you don't stop I'll eat these 2 Taco Bell bean burritos and by the time we are in the room with the floating blue dude in the tank I'll start unloading........best you wise up."

As irritating as the self centered may be such a retort could be the initiation of a confrontation. Personally I just do the best I can to shut them out to where they are just unintelligible background noise and focus on my family, friends and enjoying their positive comments.

I have no plans on visiting WDW in the near or not so near future. We went last in 2018. We are doing DL/DCA for the first time ever this year- and it seems TONS of people are doing the same. After that, we may book trips to Orlando and do everything but Disney. For a number of reasons, WDW is not a place for a fun vacation.

It's ironic that at the same time, I just had one of the best trips I've ever had in WDW.

However, that had more to do with my mentality going into this as it was my first solo trip. Out of the 10 days I only spent 2 days at parks and then visited Typhoon Lagoon. Was more of a resort stay and getway for myself since I'm so comfortable in the World.

That said, they will have to get back on track again with quality CMs, resort and park upkeep and guest experience before I return. The worst condition I've ever seen WDW. BUT I did fall in love with my room at Coronado Springs. Was impressed with the resort as I had low expectations going in. Other than some minor paint maintenance work needed on The Dig Site and adding the new mug refill stations, the resort was in great shape!

Finshing up my time and will have to admit that 2022 definitely hit the mark. More angry, mean spirited, self-obsessed, unfriendly, entitled, narcissistic 'guests' I've ever encountered.

The most I would ever come across in the past was maybe a crying kid or someone possibly just not having the best day.

There are still some decent and great people out there but sadly, few and far between.

Before I canceled Disney Plus I watched a special about imagineers. They discussed the history of the department and dedicated a couple of episodes to Eisner and Wells. They featured how they revived the company, specifically the imagineers and refocused on excellence. They also discussed Eisners declines and mistakes after Wells death but the revitalization the pair brought to the company in their early years was tremendous. It feels like the company needs another shake up and reset. The problem is as long as people continue to visit and they sell DVC, they have a built in audience and have no reason to strive for excellence.

I Agree with the many. A WDW vacation is now work.

The work was fine before because you had the payoff of enjoying the results. Now you have to do the work early every day and from what I'm hearing the return times of your final reservation vary wildly based on how fast you click (via Len Testa). I've been excited to come back for EPCOT 40 for a few years, but now I'm questioning the trip. We're folks that come every 1-2 years. My last trip was a solo trip in Sept 2020.

If he lives in Britain, he perhaps ought to visit Efteling in the Netherlands, and Europa Park and Phantasialand in Germany. I wish I lived closer to them than I do. They're stunning, and have more immersive theming than the Disney parks in the U.S. IMO. Visiting them is on top of my bucket list. Gotta keep saving those pennies...

Here’s a crazy idea….. why not have certain weeks out of the year where they dramatically raise prices and lower attendance. Come up with a marketing angle on it. Eliminate genie+, all standby lines. No private tours. Think triple cost, 1/3 the max crowd.

not a good trade, but you might be on to something if it were tweaked a bit.
$375 for one day's gate entry you're still waiting 40 minutes for Rise of Resistance, 30 for a Frozen boat and Flight of Passage isn't good enough.

I've been debating about replying. In a nutshell, it's been a number of years since we've had a trip where I didn't feel like I was being ripped off. i.e. quality across the board and diminished/monetized perks vs. rapidly rising prices. Just because I can afford it doesn't mean I should buy in. I've started to feel like the fool and their $ for continuing to do anything Disney. My complaints won't change things, nor do I expect them to, so I'm trying to speak with my wallet. I can't truly complain, because it's led to some incredible travel.

We'll be in Orlando a few times this summer. I allowed the nostalgia bug to bite me (momentarily) and I booked some ADRs (I did not miss that experience!). Then a trip down memory lane and some travel logistics smacked me in the face! I wound up coming to my senses and canceling those ADRs. It'll be the first time in about 25 years that I'm visiting Orlando and not setting a single toe on Disney property. I'm sure some DCL faithful might also see my signature and think we're making a mistake with the cruise as well. Like I shouldn't allow my disdain for the parks to impact cruise choices. Once I strayed from the Disney forums, I found a lot of people like me who were just considering cruises that had the most things that appealed to their families/groups. DCL was just a poor fit. A true drink packages is an activity, right?

At the end of the day, if you want to put your $ into WDW, DLR, DCL, or really any Disney travel options...go for it! Just because I'm fed up doesn't mean you have to be. It also doesn't make either of us right or wrong. If anything, I'm a bit jealous of people who are still going and not soured to the experience like we are. I've had this discussion with my parents several times. They are FL residents and still love their WDW trips. Funny, they love the parks, but are also avid cruisers and after countless discussions with friends over grandkid trips, they won't touch DCL. I also won't say never for anything Disney, because there could come a time where we go for something like F&W, or we could wind up there for a school trip or travel ball. I may even find a DCL itinerary out of Galveston suits me more than the other options. I just won't be going out of my way anymore to do things Disney. No more being a slave to the mouse!

Disney could have expanded the story of Mulan and created an experience post Great Movie Ride at DHS in the same Chinese theater location.

I'm sat here on a Saturday afternoon with nothing to do. There is only Costa coffees in this town and they shut at 6pm, the cinema is decrepit and as it's the only place to go to for entertainment it's full of kids who want to socialise instead of watch the movie. The only place to go for food are the local pubs, Wetherspoons is one and all Brits on here will know what that means and they aren't like the Red Lion in Epcot either. No decent restaurants, nothing. I could drive the 20 miles to the nearest Starbucks, but, the petrol will cost more than the coffee.
This is why I go to Disney and will continue to do so. I have two weeks of feeling i'm actually living. Evenings in the parks are my favourite thing to do, just strolling around, having a Starbucks or a snack or resort hopping and people watching. It's the simple things about going to WDW that have been lost to many.
Do I feel like i'm being ripped off? At the moment only with the resort housekeeping, apart from that everything else is a matter of choice, we can choose not to buy all the merch, we can choose where to eat, we can choose to eat sit down meals or snack our way around (they are substantial after all) I buy my mug and it pays for itself in a couple of days, after that the drinks are free. If you feel ripped off then ask yourself what have you paid for to feel ripped off, as I said, considering how much you pay for even a value room the standard of housekeeping is terrible.

It makes sense depending on where you live. It makes sense why you have to attachment you do. I have always thought the UK had wonderful parks. I guess part of why I post the way I do is that I live quite aways from a lot of amusement parks. I do get a bit jealous of how close many of you live to some and think nothing of it.
