Why doesn't the world's top theme park operator know how to operate theme parks?

Agreed, but stop and think for a moment what the parks would be like without FP. One thing I can assure you is they wouldn't have fewer people in them. The bigger issue is that at any given time there are too many people in the park for it to feel comfortable and manageable, and FP makes it worse, but it would be overrun with people even without FP.
FastPass gets people out of queues and places them somewhere else, effectively occupying two spaces at once. Parks are/were designed with the idea that people are queuing. It’s part of their design day capacity. Not allowing people to occupy a walkway while also waiting in line would reduce crowding.

Disney will also have to turn away from intentional increasing crowding as has been done at Walt Disney World.

I wish they would go FastPass free for a week and track the results. I think no FP would balance out crowds better. I could be wrong - it happens often!

They were fastpass free for almost 45 years, I think they know how it impacts crowds, sales, and guest experience.

Not to mention, they just upgraded the whole system and have Maxpass also, in addition to adding the service to more and more rides. Whoever they have tracking this stuff must think it's for the best.

Admittedly, I love the service- because I use it diligently, and know which rides tend to sell out first and plan my day accordingly- so I am a bit biased.

Oh, I’ve made good use of it as well, I’m just saying I believe it leaves too many people out and about, crowding the walkways, it’s a beast they created themselves but won’t fix the problems associated with it,
