Why does...

....the Animal Kingdom not have a night-time show, and why do they close so much earlier than the other parks?

Did you stop to think about the fact that the park has live animals that require round the clock care and often go to sleep at dusk? Any sort of nighttime fireworks show will give the animals a frikkin coronary and is more than likely against regulations for a park housing live animals.

Check the hours for any zoo in the country and you will notice that they all close between 4 and 6PM.

A simple "no" would have done just fine but alright.

That's what I thought! I was just wondering lol. I just feel that (weather it's fireworks or not) the AK needs something to end the day with.

Sorry, this is a cop-out. Maybe not a fireworks spectacular, but something like world of color has been discussed. Or hey, Disney, do what you used to do best and come up with something totally new and amazing. Someday, hopefully, they will add more attractions and a nighttime to finale and make Animal Kingdom a true, full-day park. Close down the animal attractions if necessary.

Therein, I think, is the real answer. Since Animal Kingdom does not have enough attractions to make it a true full-day park as is, they don't need a nighttime show. Add more attractions, make it a true full day park, and I'm sure some nighttime show will be added too.

I agree 100%. If I want to see animals, then I will go to a zoo. Disney can have an Animal themed theme park without having to have "real" animals.

Don't get me wrong, I love AK, but I never do the animal attractions. Add some more rides and a decent night time show and it probably would be my favorite park.

That is against everything DAK was built for. If you want rides, that`s what the MK is for.

I can see OP's point. Personally, I don't do much of the animal attractions. They really don't have much more than our zoo and, just like the zoo, ALL of the animals are in hiding during the day. boring. Even if they didn't do fireworks, it could be something. They could do something similar to fantasmic.

If the show was put near the entrance, could they not do some kind of night show or parade, away from where the animals are housed? At our zoo here in cleveland, thay do a twighlight at the zoo until 12am once a year, so maybe they could do something once a week if it was away from the animals. I just think they could just keep three areas open and close the savanah and do a spectromagic type show, but im not an expert on this type of thing, im just an observer who loves the park the way it is, but trying to think outside the box.

 Seriously?

Uhhh... :lookaroun

It's always been my interpretation that AK was meant to be a sort of zoo-meets-theme park, or rather a theme park dedicated to bringing the world of wildlife and animals closer to humans. So to me, animal-themed rides and offerings that don't actually feature live animals (like Dinosaur and FOTLK, for instance) seem like perfectly legitimate ways of expressing that theme.

Am I wrong?

I'm currently in the process of armchair-ing a makeover of the two lands in the south of AK so that they could be more ride-focused, and the park would be able to stay open later. I guess it's possible that's a misguided notion...

So apparently 3 parks with their own independent night time shows and fireworks displays is not enough for you? You want a park that houses live animals to risk the health of said animals for your own personal enjoyment? Yeah thats not selfish at all.....:mad::confused:

I agree it is a cop-out. Look at Busch Gardens they have alot of animals too and they still manage to stay open late some nights and hold night time based Halloween events without disturbing the animals. And their animals are a lot closer to the action than many at AK if they simply closed off certain areas at around dusk.
