Why does...

I agree it is a cop-out. Look at Busch Gardens they have alot of animals too and they still manage to stay open late some nights and hold night time based Halloween events without disturbing the animals. And their animals are a lot closer to the action than many at AK if they simply closed off certain areas at around dusk.

But from what I understand the Halloween events at Busch gardens consisted mainly of haunted houses and themed areas. I did some quick research and there is no mention of loud music, parades or fireworks. So I think your comparison does not hold merit in this situation.

World of Color rethemed to DAK would work!!!

Therin lies the problem. I know that on some nights the music from Fantasmic can be heard at nearby resorts, so with that in mind having an outdoor night time show would mean terribly loud music, which would spook the animals.

The music would be fine have you ever heard how loud the music from the parades at DAK is? There is no exploding pyro in WOC that is the key.

Yes but the parades are during the day when the animals are awake. I'm not arguing that it wouldn't be possible to do an outdoor show, I'm just saying they would have to take certain precautions to keep from disturbing the sleeping animals.

I despise when people call AK a zoo. :fork: I LOVE the zoo....but even the Philly zoo...which is a fabulous zoo....can't hold a candle to AK. I would much rather spend a whole day in AK vs MGM which is a rather pathetic park in my book. Again...you want rides and thrills and shows and fireworks...go to the other THREE parks and stay out of AK to leave more room for me :D

I can see OP's point. Personally, I don't do much of the animal attractions. They really don't have much more than our zoo and, just like the zoo, ALL of the animals are in hiding during the day. boring. Even if they didn't do fireworks, it could be something. They could do something similar to fantasmic.

Try getting to the park and riding and visiting the animal orientated rides and attractions before noon... Nahtazu!

Exactly. Plus, there are a lot of non-animal related attractions that can be done at Busch Gardens. DAK simply doesn't have enough attractions to stay open later. The park was designed to incorporate live animals into the attractions. That's its purpose. Not having nightime entertainment does not diminish the park in any way. If someone doesn't like animals or wants fireworks, there are THREE OTHER PARKS that offer that.

There's a trend with many posters on this board claiming the parks have to do this or that, or be a certain way, or offer something, just because it's what THEY want. They don't account for what the parks actually are. DAK is a park themed to conservation. Not having firworks shows because it disturbs the animals is NOT a cop-out. Animals are known to develop nervous conditions and stress when exposed to loud noises. They don't adapt to them, either.

Which is exactly what I was trying to get across with my original answer. Any sort of night time show or parade will create loud noises that will spook the sleeping animals and is not something Disney is willing to do. AK closes early and will continue to do so for the benefit of animal health.

Look at the cross hairs put a show like WOC hear. Expand this lake and put the show all the way back here to not scare the animals.
