why does it take so long

So why does it take so long for them to paint structures or even rehab a ride but when they built Epcot it only took like 25 months(ish) to build the whole park.. Wouldn't it be beneficial if they had people work 24/7 on rides to get them completed sooner???... :)

EPCOT Center took 3 years to the day, nearly bankrupted the company and still wasn`t fully ready on opening.

Today you have payroll, budgets, outside vendors, unions (moreso than in `79) and even things like access for a lot of park-locked areas.

It would be nice if things were that easy, But sadly there not. How ever if they were then my trip to the Magic Kingdom would have Space Mountain and TTA. Just means there is more to sea and do next time.

That's just what I was about to say...I don't mind missing things occassionally (and I don't get to go to WDW very often) it just makes it more exciting for next time and gives me the chance to perhaps experience less popular attractions that I wouldn't have went on!

Say you had to replace some electrical wiring in a house. What would be easier - if the house was still under construction, so the wiring is still exposed, or if the house was completed and lived-in for 20 years?

I won't say construction is easy, per se, but you have plans and you build according to those plans. Refurbs can be more involved because you're trying to update or possibly repair things that are not easily accessible, and you can't raze the existing structure and start from scratch to get to the root of the problem.
