I wrote this paper for English class. I think it tells a lot about why I love in Disney so much. Post your own reasons.
Enjoy! Oh yeah, try to count all the ride references......
I believe in Disney. Yes, I believe in a giant mouse. You may ask; why do you believe in something so childish, so frivolous? Well, the answer is complex, yet so simple, mental, but at the same time it is physical, but it comes so easily to me. I believe in Disney and there are many reasons why.
I believe in Disney’s dream of America, the dream and ideal that through hard work and smart thinking through innovation and effort any dream, any goal, any horizon can be reached. Walt Disney himself proved this ideal himself during his entire life as he was broke several times; did this stop him though from accomplishing his goal? It certainly did not, look at all that he has caused to be! This dream of America has no boundaries on what you can do as long as you are willing to be self reliant and are able to be a smart and hard worker. It is a nation full of dreamers and doers. I believe that this America fulfills what our nation was founded on, Independence and Liberty. This America has a dream for the future, a future where our technical know how and inventiveness will take us to limitless new horizons for you and me. A dream that tomorrow’s child will always have that spark of inspiration and imagination to make a better world for our and children and our children’s children on our own planet, Spaceship Earth and beyond.
I believe in Disney because it allows us to escape reality yet confront it. Whether it is to escape to a world of fairy tales and castles in Fantasyland, fantastic futures that never were in Tomorrowland, explore the unknown jungle and adventure with a certain Dr. Jones in Adventureland, become a Wild West hero in Frontierland, become a pirate in the Caribbean, have close encounters with ghouls and ghosts that can sometimes lead directly to The Twilight Zone, or to just fight Darth Vader with a light saber. I believe in Disney because you can escape to some of your wildest fantasies and know that they are possible, through the wizardry of Disney it is possible, it is possible to dream. We can also confront the daunting the future, “If we can dream, than we can do it.”, optimistic words offered on the subject of the future on the future by the extinct attraction Horizons which in the park EPCOT Center especially shows how we can see the future and confront its challenges with a bright and happy eye. I believe in Disney because it is possible to see a bright future where man can live with fellow man, man can live in harmony with the land, man can find what he needs for energy to make the world go round, and that mankind can make a better future with a dream and hope. “There’s a great big beautiful tomorrow, just a dream away!” That truly is a great reason to believe in Disney.
The reasons that I believe in a giant mouse are clearly seen. It has allowed me to think and to dream more, it has allowed me to be free. It’s fun to be free, free in the mind to allow it to dream and create; free to be whom I want to be. I believe in Disney because it is timeless, I believe in Disney because I believe in life and what it can hold for us all. Life is full of wonder and fantasy; you just have to find it. I have, have you?
Yeah that's a lot....
