Why Disney Doesn't Want Real Reporters ...

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread (though I'm sure Spirit will forgive me). A friend on twitter forwarded this to me:

Duncan Wardle pretty much admits the whole past few years have been all about finding new folks who love the brand to drown out those who have criticisms.

The bolded part isn't supported at all by what he says in the interview. He talks about engaging these people to basically do an 'end around' people's filters on marketing. Skipping commercials, skipping ads, etc. Engaging advocates who will be seen and in effect, bypassing those filters people have put up around themselves to rid their lives of traditional advertising.

There is nothing in the interview that supports your assertion that it's about muscling out critics.

Resurrecting an old thread to perpetuate the lunacy of condemning a company for actively promoting its product...

You're right, "Spirit" will surely forgive you!

Late to the party, Kevin. All the food and booze is gone ... all we have left is Mickey confetti (i.e. Pixie Dust).:)

That video and others of Duncan were posted by myself and others on that LP.com Social Media thread that bothered Doob and Disney so much.:drevil:

I did make a post on your site last week after your last column regarding social media and WDW Co.

But Duncan's philosophy is that for every negative post/comment online there will be 18 folks shouting it down in the Disney really is a religious cult method of thinking. I don't see that at all (check out the thread on the smarmy little online presentation Disney did with the Imagineer on the Parks Blog two days ago) here on News and Rumors where almost everyone sees how Disney is playing the fan community in a very disgusting, disingenous fashion ...

Anyway, care to talk about the Mommy Bloggers? How about Lou Mongello and whether he is an employee of the WDW Co (just not 'officially')? How about whether Disney Social Media reps were told by officials to Tweet up the fanbois with pixie dust in their eyes to help get the PR spin spun? And the small-time Imagineers doing likewise?

If so, please join the discussion on the News and Rumors board because I wouldn't have even seen this if I hadn't just been informed by another forum member.

Threads not in News and Rumors or WDW General tend to go and die quickly.

Or if you'd like to talk in private, please give me call.

I think I read from almost all bloggers/reporters who went on the preview cruise that there were a lot of issues that happened. They kinda use it as a dry run to fix the kinks so when the first people who spent the big bucks on the cruise step on board everything goes smoothly.
I'm not surprised there were issues, or people bring them to light. People are more likely to complain than compliment.

Oh don't say that. It's all a conspiracy for Disney to use and/or manipulate the fans and social media to drown out the "real" would-be reporters. And at zero cost! Double-score!

:hammer:
