Why bring out the Halloween stuff in Sept?

Same reason they and many people decorate for Xmas in November. Plus, Fall begins in September. They go hand-in-hand. And believe it or not, Halloween is a bigger holiday than you might think. On CNN I believe last year, supposedly sales for Halloween decor/costumes has been a very strong rival for Xmas and I believe last year or a year or so previous, sales were higher for Halloween than that of Xmas decorations.

The top 2 times of the year people go all out is Halloween & Xmas/New Years. Since I will be at MNSSHP next week, it got me in the mood and I already have a bunch of Halloween stuff up already :D

No joke, if you go to DL towards the end of October, you will find snow on the castle tops and a few Christmas decorations. Starting the holidays early is a lovely idea, IMO.:D

My goal is to some point in my life... stay the week where they transition... so I can have a few days with Halloween and a few days with Christmas stuff.

A year or 2 ago we were at the world for transition week. We had no idea it was that week though, so one night we were enjoying MK (I can't remember if it was Fall Mk or just regular MK) and the next morning when we arrived at MK again there was Christmas decor. It took us a good 5ish minutes to realize the decor was different than the night before. This was the first week of November. It wasn't full Christmas decor, but it was still cool.

$$$$$

I'd like to start Halloween in October, Thanksgiving in November and Christmas in December...but I'm sure Disney makes more money this way.

I would really love to know why the Halloween decor and the Halloween party at MK isn't all done in the month of October? Why start bringing that stuff out in September? I can't imagine it has anything to do with making more money as a result of it. I personally do nothing with Halloween - never have - and I can see how many people do enjoy it.....but I really hate having to cut my day/evening short in enjoying the MK simply because they want to do this stuff a month before the holiday is even here.

It's because MNSSHP starts in September and THAT is a big money maker for WDW. They can't have it every night in October so they like to stretch it out. Think of what would happen if MK was closed at 7 for the entire month of October because of the party. Then you would be really angry because you wouldn't even have the option of having a late night in MK on a different day. Right now the party is only a couple of times a week so head to another park that day and MK on an alternate day when there is no MNSSHP scheduled. Or, go buy a ticket for the event and see what it's all about! You never know, even if you're not a Halloween person you might enjoy it!

I told my husband I want to do this!! Figure out the day they go from Halloween to Christmas and be there to get to see both!!! :D

OP - They had Halloween stuff out while we were there, but it looked more "fall" then really halloween. I loved it. It was very festive and beautiful : ) We got to watch the Autumn Dancers, who danced with my son, and they were adorable : )

I don't usually visit in September/October... we always go the 2nd week in November so I always got to see the Christmas decorations. In all the years I have gone to WDW, I have yet to go for the fall/Halloween decor, so I am so happy that I decided to go in the end of September this year so I can experience this in person instead of living vicariously through everyone's pictures!!! :)

Am I the only one who finds it funny with DisneyJunkie profile picture he doesn't do anything with Halloween?

The decorations Disney does for the holidays are beautiful! And it's not just Halloween, it's more fall-like with pumpkins. It's just another way that makes it so when you go to Disney you are leaving the "real" world behind and immersing yourself in a magical fantasy land! Going with the Fall or Christmas decorations up is my favorite time to go.

While the obvious answer is $, the same could be said for all of the Christmas festivities. The "holiday season" doesn't technically start until Thanksgiving (or the day after, depending how you look at it), but they start going into Christmas mode in early November.

Now as a patron, I appreciate it b/c getting there in October isn't always feasible. If we want to go a little more technical, fall does officially begin in September (22nd I believe)...and considering at least some of the decor could double as fall decor, it seem perfectly appropriate to begin this in September. Our local harvest festivals begin in September for this same reason.

Beyond that, while it's not for everyone I know a lot of people who adore everything fall and Halloween. My HOA requires me to wait until October 1st, but you better believe my yard is decked out for Halloween on that date. Jeez, I even have Halloween costumes ready to go no later than end of August. And as soon as the first day of fall officially rolls around, my kids will be allowed to start watching The Great Pumpkin.

So, maybe it's not for everyone, but considering how psyched up we get at home- I love that Disney starts their Halloween festivities on the slightly early side as well. :)

Disney does it because people are willing to pay for it and celebrate, largely because they know they are there now and can do so if given the chance.

If Christmas can be dragged on forever by retailers, I don't see why Disney shouldn't stretch out Halloween a bit.

Well, my family put up our Fall decorations on Labor Day weekend- and we'll overlay that with the Halloween decorations in about 2 more weeks- so as long as it's after September 1st, it's fine by me.

That said, most of the stores here are getting their Halloween stuff out and Costco has a full isle of Christmas stuff plus an isle or so of toys. Also, just about every seasonal amusement park in the US is open- or about to open- for the Halloween season that has become very big in the last 10 years. Disney seems right in line with all of them.

to maximize the amount of people to experience it. its the same way for christmas decorations coming the first week of november.
