Why bring out the Halloween stuff in Sept?

I would really love to know why the Halloween decor and the Halloween party at MK isn't all done in the month of October? Why start bringing that stuff out in September? I can't imagine it has anything to do with making more money as a result of it. I personally do nothing with Halloween - never have - and I can see how many people do enjoy it.....but I really hate having to cut my day/evening short in enjoying the MK simply because they want to do this stuff a month before the holiday is even here.
It's mainly because there are many people who go to the party each year and need it many nights. I went late September in 2010 and was glad they had the party in September...but I know it feels weird that tonight is the first party for Halloween (seems early) but the same thing goes for the Christmas one. It starts in November right after Halloween

We don't go to Magic Kingdom in the fall because of the halloween decorations. Will never go to MNSSHP. I started a thread about this last week and it got shut down, so I'll just say at our house halloween is not a holiday. End of my input to this discussion.

The same reason most retail stores already have full Halloween displays out, because they're not allergic to cash monaay.

The Halloween holiday has became big business for US retailers and Disney decorating immediately at the beginning of off-peak season is no accident.

....That and Halloween is the greatest holiday of them all.

To make money just as many shops here have Xmas stuff available and we havent even burnt Guy Fawkes yet.
Or how you can buy Easter eggs on Boxing Day:confused:!!! I think its fantastic that they can change from "fall/autumn" one day to "the holidays/Christmas" & I'm going to savor every minute of it when I'm there Oct 27th to Nov 16th:D:D

Oh dear... religious reasons perhaps? Fair enough.

Why is it I can go to my local department store today and buy Christmas decorations? Halloween has been picking up in popularity over the last several years and is not going away. I suggest you get used to it and if you don't like that part of Disney maybe schedule your trips at a different time if you can, maybe in the spring when decorations are pretty neutral.

I am sort of a Halloween fanatic and usually put my indoor decorations up by Oct. 1st every year. I have almost as many Halloween decorations as I do Christmas. This year I will put them up even earlier since we are having my son's birthday party a little early this year and if I don't put them up before then, it is never going to happen. I can't imagine avoiding the MK due to decorations? What ever floats your boat.

We went at the end of August/beginning of September and got to experience the park being normal one day and literally the next day seeing everything decked out for Halloween. It was awesome. I think it is smart of Disney to give the holidays at least a 2 month time frame. It gives guests who may not be able to see the decorations a chance to experience them.

And Halloween and Christmas are the only two that get such attention. I used to go in February and would see some Valentine things but the minute the 14th was over, it got immediately switched to St. Patrick's day stuff. So the transitions are very fast. And you only know it's Easter when you see the Easter Bunny and the southern belle ladies on Main street Easter Sunday. I feel sorry for travelers who don't get to see them if they come in too early or late. At least with Halloween and Christmas, vacationers get some leeway to experience everything.

As other posters have said, Disney makes everything known and accessible to travelers; the information is out there. If you are uncomfortable walking on a street with a pumpkin on it, don't travel in September/October. There are 10 other months to travel in. Me? after seeing how totally awesome the place looked, I am now planning a real Halloween trip for next year because I want to go to the party and all that stuff...so yea...Disney's advertising worked for me, lol

My wife and I arrive on October 31 and leave November 12. We have tickets for the Halloween party on Nov 2 and for the Christmas party on November 9. We plan to visit the Osborne lights on Nov 10 or 11. This will be our first visit to WDW since we moved from the area in 1996. We are thrilled to be able to see the decorations for both holidays in one trip, which will make our celebration of our 40th wedding anniversary even more special.

It used to be a 1 1/2 hour drive from our drive way to the Magic Kingdom parking lot. We had either resident annual or seasonal passes for several years before moving and would often go after work just for supper or to walk around Epcot. Guess you could call us "charter" members to WDW as we were there when the park first opened and watched as it grew and changed. So, we are excited to return to the parks and consider it a bonus to be able to be there for Halloween and Christmas in one trip.

Which is why the two other parks down there start their Halloween events the weekend of the 21st in Florida and the one in The Olde Country starts this weekend. People want it. People will pay for it. Parks will meet the demand. Cash cows.

I am kind of wondering if you really enjoy WDW or you just want to complain about everything. It seems like most of your posts are about bashing Disney. It does not make sense financially or otherwise to put up all of the decorations for such a short amount of time. There is nothing wrong with stretching it out a bit. Everyone does it, how many of you put up Christmas decorations up mid November and keep them up until Feb?

I am not a big 'fall' fan, but I do appreciate the decorations. I decorate the bathroom too for every season - I have different shower curtains for the seasons and will be putting up my Halloween one in a few weeks. But for now, it is still the beach scene...

I see nothing wrong with putting the decorations out early - most people appreciate it and it's not like Santa and the reindeer are out already...that's pushing the schedule!

Makes perfect sense to me. It allows those of us coming in September to experience the Halloween festivities!

Exactly! And I love it that WDW starts decorating for Christmas immediately after Halloween. That allows visitors like me to experience a Disney Christmas WITHOUT having to deal with WDW holiday crowds!

I get that, but why not just run it from Oct 1 to the middle of Nov?
Nobody much wants to buy Halloween merchandise after the fact. Lots of people are visiting and buy stuff to take home and wear for their Halloween parties.

Did you know Oktoberfest dates begin in September? September is just another word for "early October," it seems.
