Why bring out the Halloween stuff in Sept?

I would really love to know why the Halloween decor and the Halloween party at MK isn't all done in the month of October? Why start bringing that stuff out in September? I can't imagine it has anything to do with making more money as a result of it. I personally do nothing with Halloween - never have - and I can see how many people do enjoy it.....but I really hate having to cut my day/evening short in enjoying the MK simply because they want to do this stuff a month before the holiday is even here.

Because Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Parties start in September.

Also because they turn the park almost instantly to Christmas decorations after October 31st, this allows more time for guests to see the Autumn decor. Traditionally, Labor Day is known as the unofficial end of summer here in the US. (Even though the official end of summer is on the Autumn Equinox, this year on Sept 22nd.) End of summer = time for Autumn/Halloween.

Disney has always sort of extended the time they "celebrate" a holiday. The Christmas stuff goes up more than a month in advance too and stays up for a good while after. The way I've always seen it is they are trying to expand the amount of guests who get to experience it.

Why do you have to cut your day short enjoying the MK because the Halloween stuff is there? Are you talking about the MNSSHP? Even before it existed the parks closed around the same time. It's less because of the MNSSHP and more because it's off-peak season.

The same reason why Christmas stuff starts going out early November, and the MVMCP parties start shortly after that. Disney likes to celebrate something. To have something different to sell you on. And to make money. Just like how stores put out back to school stuff now 3 weeks after summer vacation starts, and it seems to go from Halloween, to Christmas, to Valentines Day, to Easter right after the other. Money.

And also, by having the party some nights in September, they are able to have non party nights in October. The demand is there for the party nights. So they get spread out to help lessen the inconvenience on guests. You have early nights a few days a week in September, but imagine if it was every night during October? The schedule is posted well in advance so you can plan around the early nights.

I agree - Halloween is a pretty minor "holiday" and you'd think a month would be enough. But there's big $$$ in those separately-ticketed parties.

More to do with giving maximum oppertunity for guests to enjoy the holliday decorations over an extended period of time so people have flexibility in there schedules to go see Disney at Halloween and not worry about having a week to do so. Merchandising plays a part in this as the Halloween themed shirts and stuff were out over Labor day...I enjoyed it as I hadnt been over Halloween before so bought severak Halloween specific items not normally available

I get that, but why not just run it from Oct 1 to the middle of Nov?

It's not really a halloween theme as much as it is a fall theme with Disney flair. There is nothing scary and its really just to spice it up since there are really only 2 seasons its decorated..at least this way from Sep till Jan you are getting the Park in a special setting that will even entice the local people to stop by. I think its great because Sep is the cheapest time to go...and you will get free dining and MNSSHP on top of that? What's not to love other than a few hurricanes.

Because that would take weeks away from the uber profitable Christmas season. Not to mention compressing their changeover more than is needed. And it is much easier to celebrate something a little early, doing it after the fact can seem silly. Just look at how holiday specials are on TV for weeks and even month prior to the holiday, but very few afterwards.

My local store beats Disney with Halloween candy and decorations by a week. Let's be serious here; if you buy Halloween candy now is it really going to last until Oct 31? Now I know why in the 1970's pictures of the MK everyone was so skinny, it was because they didn't have early Halloween candy!!

So I'm guessing that you go in September and are ok with it affecting people who travel in October and November?

$$$

They can do MNSSHP earlier and guests can purchase tickets to that and the merchandise that comes with it. I sure would if I were at the World in September. :D
