Why book now?

We're definitely planning on going again in May 2009 (went in May 2008, and going in Sept. for Free dining) We booked through AAA in January 2009 for the May 2009 trip. Got all the usual Disney extras in the MYW with dining package, but we also got some extras from AAA for their own promotion ($25 Disney gift cards- one for each room- and a portable DVD player.)

So my question is this...what's the advantage to booking now, if any? We're looking to get two POP rooms, don't really care if they're preferred or not, just want the AAA discount on the rooms for late May 2009. Do the AAA discount rooms at POP sell out early?

Book as soon as you know your travel dates and know you can afford it. Rooms can sell out, but even before that, AAA discounts can "sell out" ... AAA discounts are available on only a certain percentage of rooms in each room category, based on occupancy rates and so on.

i agree with all the above comments. i have read several posts from people who have tried to book reservtions only to find out there are no rooms left. Who knows maybe by the time you go the economy will be taking affect on people traveling to disney. but i would not take the chance. We book ours 7-11 months out all the time but we are DVC memebers

The two main points for locking in now are
1) Guaranteed price
2) Guaranteed availability

If some promotion comes along to improve on price, you can always call and rework it...but as was said, pricing may very well go up, and availability is always limited.

I would do the same for airfare if you are flying. If you see a good price, book now (on a major airline preferrably). You don't need those variables in travel plans, especially for a set date.
