Why Aerosmith?

IMHO they shouldn't have picked a band... and if they did they should needed to have picked a band that had LONG term appeal. I know it's hindsight but 10 years after that ride premiered the band is dead in the water.

U2... would have been a solid choice. They keep banging out serious albums, and Bono has that whole peacekeeper image in the world.
Like the Peter,Paul and Mary or the Beetles?

If Disney gave it a decade or two to see how it turns out, they could easily make a Radiohead Rock N' Roller Coaster, but that's just a request of mine and I am biased because they're my favorite group and all. Everyone that I know at least likes something by Radiohead, and I'm sure their differing views would be interesting...but then again, they're a refined version of rock, and if you're going for straight up rock you might as well just take Zeppelin and make a ride.

EDIT: Ditch Zeppelin and Aerosmith and just go make a Pink Floyd ride...think about it. Riding to On The Run would be amazingly scary.

Yea, they've been around for a while, actually, their last LP In Rainbows came out in 2007, with a new LP around the corner.

I don't know any songs that would work personally, but my vote would be for On The Run, mainly because of the music video and how scary it could be, although really any song could work.

EDIT: Have the heartbeats and sounds that serve as the intro to Speak To Me/Breath and instead of cutting out to Breath after the screams, just put the start of On The Run, and after the screams the ride would blast off.

I'm sorry, but Radiohead is an AWFUL idea. Longevity? Yes. Mass appeal? No.

If there were need to change the band, I would FULLY support Bon Jovi or Journey (but only if Steve Perry were a creative director on the ride).

Kiss, while it has the longevity and mass appeal, I don't see them being fitting for the location (as in, a family place).

Well like I said...if AEROSMITH would get that flippin studio album out that they've been working on for 4 years now... :brick:

I'm so ready for some new Aerosmith tunes.

As for Bon Jovi...I just can't do it, I like some of their 80s stuff...Slippery When Wet, New Jersey, and even Have a Nice Day...but I think they sound too commercial anymore.

Agree and AGREE!!! :p

As much as I personally HATE the idea of Steven Tyler being a judge on American Idol this season (it puts the bands status in limbo AGAIN), it does keep the Aerosmith brand out there and may be able to attract some new fans.

Just realized that Steven Tyler is now associated with TWO attractions in WDW...one more than Michael Jackson! :ROFLOL:

I am a huge rock fan not necessarily a huge Areosmith fan but i always respected Aerosmith as an example of what a rock band should be...huge hits, big partiers and basically a classic band. I feel they fit this ride perfectly (the songs they use are relatively family friendly and i don't think metallica or slipknot would have fit this ride well...though I would have enjoyed that). Maybe not the greatest band of all time (that belongs to Tool) but there a worldwide well known band.

Oh, Radiohead would be a terrible idea for DHS, because frankly they couldn't pull off the atmosphere. However, they could pull it off at the same time, it all depends on how you'd try it...it was just me with some wishful thinking really

As for a band that would fit, why not Nirvana? They could then theme the ride/queue around Seattle for the early grunge movement, which technically wasn't grunge yet, so it could still be a Rock n' Roller Coaster. Mr. Moustache could be the ride song!

Tyler is in the owner's box at the Pat's game today and Jim Nance gave a RnRC shout out when they showed him... albeit not by name.

Not a great idea - Name the ride after a band whose lead singer committed suicide. I don't see that fitting in with the most Magical Place on Earth.

1) He didn't commit suicide.

2) Yea, he's famous for that misinterpretation, but Steven Tyler being an arrogant, drug-taking, rehab-going role model is good for WDW? Yes, both of their lifestyles were not optimal, but one of them had some sort of meaning IMO.
