Who WON'T go this year W/O free dining.

I know we have money set aside to sign right on if it is offered, but a trip is just out of the question without it. We may go to DL instead for a long weekend or go to Hershey instead. We just can't afford to have the $2K bill at the end of the trip when we go. Anybody else in the same boat.

Free Dining or Bust!

i agree with jimbo on alot of the stuff he is saying. without the meal plan im not sure i would have been able to go last year. this year i took 2 weeks off in august hoping that they offer this plan again because it will save us at least a $1000 in food. in years past when we have gone we didnt eat at many table service restaurants but with this plan we have eaten at many places im not sure i would have even tried. like jimbo has said earlier we to like to stay for 10 or more days at a value resort with this plan. more bang for the buck as they say. im gonna go no matter what this year its just a matter of how long and when depending on the dining plan if its offered or not. on a side note hershey parks chocolate tour ride reminds me of disneys dark rides, it even has those smells in it

Sorry it took so long to do my research. If making a "Room Only" reservation, you can add guests to the room. Just make sure they are registered with the hotel and for which days. If it is a Package, you cannot even register guests to stay in the room with you. So since any DDP reservation would have to be with a PKG, the idea wouldn't work. Sorry again for upseting people, just brainstorming. BTW who would have ever thought to ask for an extra bun for the double cheesburger? Thanks for those who didn't hex me for my idea, and bless you all...

Please have free dining...

Yes, the alternate idea for this thread is that WDW does watch these boards. If they do see that some people won't be able to go w/o free dining, that may tip the scale. And no... we still can't go without it. Thanks for helping me thing outside the box about it, and you can now see why thinging outside the box can have its problems too.

this whole thread has me wondering...

was the sole purpose of free dining to book more rooms in a slow season? or were they also trying to get people to sample table-service that normally don't get it? is there more money in table-service than counter-service (higher prices, but less turnover)?

Either way, was the boost in attendance worth the money lost on dining? bear in mind, 4 adults in a moderate pretty much equals the money they would spend on the plan. were they hoping the money lost on food would be made up with more souveniers? because based on some comments on this thread, there might not be enough ecomonic incentive for wdw to offer the promo again.

hmmmm...jut in case wdw reps DO visit the forum, can the mods delete this thread? :D

Just wondering here, while on the subject of the DDP, has anyone that's been on it received less than stellar service at the TS restaurants. I have heard a number of complaints from family and friends that if they were on the dining plan, some of the servers weren't so attentive, and the meals themselves have declined in quality.
