Who ultimately made the decision to rebrand EPCOT Center

Baltar

$4 billion for EPCOT

Because the Park was at one point the Center of the entire resort...Hence why the classic Symbol sits right behind Fountain of Nations and was the "Center" of it all....

Thanks! Although I'm sure they could have transitioned the name but I appreciate the info!

I'm loving the cool facts showing up in this thread..

I personally don't mind the change. I just wish I wasn't living within the "transition".. Same with DHS. I either want to live in the era of the classic world's fair style idea, or the finished product of the "re-brand" EPCOT. But sadly, I'm here, today.

I don't even think Walt would have wanted the "Center" part. He even mentions it just as E.P.C.O.T..

At least they could just Change the name for the Dreamer....But, Noooooo Eisner wanted it as a word not an Ancronym..

Maybe it's just time to build the E.P.C.O.T Walt wanted now....and revitalize the Epcot of today in a big way.

Now that would be something worth investing in.....

Well apparently phase one and two have taken place. Phase one build fancy million dollar homes. Phase two build a towncenter to cater to those new residents. Sarcasm aside I do believe in some way or another Walt's original Epcot will come into reality. Whether by the million dollar homes or HUD approved affordable Disney Housing, that's for the future to see. Disney just doesn't want to be in the works of Governing thus explains why my hometown of Celebration was annexed and became it's own government without the use of RCID. It's just a dead concept that TWDC doesn't want to see through.

Ahh..You Mean Disney Vacation Club Utopia......No Thanks...

Oh no....I'm not talking about that nonsense.
I'm talking about turning Epcot into a EPCOT that has scope, magnitude, and scale for today's times in a spectacular way.
Exciting public transportation options for moving around property...cutting edge living environments, and a themed expanse worthy of the spirit of the original intent.
With today's creative tools and technology, amazing things could be done.

Of course, you need forward thinking people working within a organization that encourages and supports such lofty goals....and sadly I have little faith 'today's Disney' could pull it off.
The Company just does not seem interested in pushing any boundaries in the direction a refreshed EPCOT would need.

Indeed, 'today's Disney' would simply turn it into yet another target for DVC expansion.....
:hungover:

Not the 'Epcot' I'm hoping for.
