Hi everyone! I'm a big fan of the Disney Villains and really hate seeing their appearance in the parks deteriorating. BUT it brought up the discussion between my boyfriend and I on who is the most evil of all the villains?

I have a few categories on which to base votes.
-How did they die? (easy accidental death or big battle)
-What was their ultimate goal? (revenge, power, fortune)
-What was their relation to the protagonist? (family member or random person)
-Who helped them in their quest? (loner or henchmen)

[yes, I have given this WAY too much thought]

My boyfriend says Maleficent, no question. Evil is built right in her name. But in accordance to my categories...
-She can transform herself into a giant dragon but can't kill one man on a horse?
-She wants to kill Aurora so instead of just doing it straight up, she develops this elaborate plan. Seems like if you really wanted her dead you could have tried a little harder.
-No real relation...not like Scar who killed his own brother
-She herself doesn't even look for her...she sends her henchmen, who fail miserably looking for a baby for 16 years. And then her raven finds the fairies, not her. Roll up your sleeves and get a little dirty in your own master plan!

I give the Wicked Queen some credit for getting involved. After the woodsman fails, she turns herself into the witch to go out and get business taken care of. Her death is certainly not some great battle but she gets some points for doing it on her own.

My personal favorite villain is Ursula. But is she the most evil? Probably not. Buy who is?!

I could go through all the villains and list reasons why they are/aren't that evil. But I'm wondering what you all think?

(I did not include any Pixar villains because a poll can only have 20 options! but all villains can be considered!!)

I think i'd have to say the Wicked Queen from Snow White, can't get much more evil than that, at least in a cartoon!

scar actually kills someone other then the shadow man in The Princess and the Fog who squashes the lightning bug i dont think any others directly killed someone

I vote Maleficent as well - not sure this qualifies her as evil but I'm still somewhat scared of her and in my *ahem* late 30's.

Levels of evil are a matter of perception. One might consider Cruella De Vil the most evil because they are dog lovers. Another might say Hades because hey...he is Hades, he enjoys collecting souls. Any reason that a person may consider a villain most evil is legitimate!

I believe it is said in the extras on The Little Mermaid that Ursula is Tritons sister...so she gets evil points for trying/wanting to kill her niece and brother, right? Plus I think she has one of the best villain tunes, too

Maleficent is scary, and Scar did kill his own brother, and Ursula is my personal favorite and does have the best song...I picked Frollo, because he does so many evil things while hiding behind a mask of righteousness.

Chernabob from Fantasia. He is Satan himself :fork: & is Maleficient's boss.
If you like the villians, you should read the Kingdom Keeper books. There you will find the efforts that WDI have taken to keep Chernabob from the parks. It also explains why the Yeti in EE is always broken.

I think this is a good point. Most of the villains don't really believe they are good, nor have they convinced others of their goodness.

Maleficent knows she's evil, and revels in it. Same with Cruella, the Wicked Stepmother, Ursula, Scar, and others. They know that they are doing something wrong, yet do it anyway.

The Governor in Pocahontas might also fall into the "thinks he's doing good even though he hurts others and the general public respects him" category. I think someone who can hide his evil and twist it to appear "good" is more evil than someone who can't help it.

I voted for Scar. Not only did he kill Mufasa, his own brother, but he tried to kill Simba, his nephew. Man, that scene after Mufasa dies, when Scar lays the blame at poor Simba's feet, then tells him to run away...that's cruel enough, but THEN, after Simba runs off, Scar calmly tells the hyenas: "Kill him." Whoa. That gave me chills. Pure evil.

My second choice is Maleficent. She's elegant in her evil, even when she turns into a dragon. She may be vicious, but you gotta admit, she's got style.

But at least Scar has a purpose for his evil. He wants to be king. Maleficent, even in the original story, cast her spell because she felt slighted by the King & Queen. "I wasn't invited to your party so I'll kill your daughter. So there."

I suppose Frollo and a lot of the others do have a goal in mind (usually a woman) but Frollo presented himself, as mentioned, as serving God, which I think makes him more evil. If he said he was openly serving the devil (or evil, black magic, whatever) it would make him less evil, IMO.
