I created this poll since there is topics about depressed AA and living things.

I had Yeti in Expedition Everest in my poll because I saw how the Yeti at Expedition Everest used to act like before she had problems.

The Yeti to me appears to be depressed because she is in "disco" B mode and can't move like she used to. What I gathered The Everest Yeti doesn't want listen to Disco. She wants to listen to some old time Rock and Roll to sooth the soul and to reminisce about the days of old instead.

I called the Yeti a she because Joe Rhode did call the Everest Yeti as a "her".

I voted for the yeti. Even though technically and inatimate object, he's supposed to be animated, dammit, and so that must be very frustrating, which could lead to depression, since he is a Disney construct, and therefore is supposed to be entertaining the masses.

This poll is unfair, there is no way I can compare the feelings of such a cute dolphin (awww) to Disney's cheap robots. But, I will make mention of the Tiki Birds and all the Splash Mountain animatronics, they're just miserable. :(

The Yeti doesn't bother me because it doesn't look like its falling apart and I know if they operating it could have deadly effect on guest. (Gotta love foundation issues :*( ). The Dinosaurs is Ellens Energy Adventure are just sad :(.

Of course people will feel compassionate for living things first, but I'm thinking the dolphins and most living animals on property are pretty well cared for, free vs caged debate notwithstanding.

The Great Yeti malfunction disturbs me most though .. This was supposedly a cutting edge and game changing technological marvel that was fully endorsed by so many. It was meant to be a focal point for the park, something to advertise, something to wow people and show where the future of Disney parks is going.

But now it has been left sedentary because it's too expensive to fix. How can this be? How can they let their flagship attraction carry on in such disrepair? It's more sad to know that there has been a decision to not fix it versus the actual repercussions of the problem itself.

This is all hyperbole of course. The fact that the Yeti doesn't move isn't the end of the world, we all know that. You can barely see it as you go by and many people don't notice at all. I'm more upset at the whole principle of the thing and the fact this 100 million dollar attraction wasn't planned with such a contingency in mind, and then the fact that okay is good enough.

The story goes that that the company that was building the attraction did not let the foundation of the Yeti settle properly before building the rest of the attraction thus the movements of the Yeti eventually crack the foundation and the Yeti began slipping closer to the ride. Over the last 5 years they have been proposing plans to fix the yet, one including a complete dismantle a good chunk of the ride to get to the foundation. The current proposals all include shutting down the attraction for a much long the average time (Think of the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad restoration in Disneyland) which is something Disney Doesn't want to do when the rest of the attraction is working completely and with nothing to get guest attention. They Yeti will be fix but it won't happen until after the Completion of Avatar when their are attraction to handle Everest absence.

I voted Yeti. I mean, here's this great big being that just wants to roar and take a swipe at the fresh meat passing by yet he's trapped in that shell with lights flashing in his face. Makes it very tough to even see the fresh meat passing him by. On top of that, he can't move! Must be terribly frustrating. I feel sorry for him. His life's purpose is unfulfilled. Free the Yeti! Keeping him captive in a frozen state is cruel!

And don't go telling me the Yeti's a robot. Next thing you know you people will be telling me Mickey is a woman in a mouse suit and Santa isn't real. I'm not listening to that garbage! <<inserts fingers into ears>> LaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLaLa...... <--that's me not hearing the evils some speak of

I feel I was too harsh. I really love Disney's animatronics and I don't think they're cheap at all. They're just somewhat neglected or poorly maintained. And, what happened with the Yeti, is just unfair. I can't blame Disney for what happened.
