Who else is anticipating Epic Universe?

I’m amazed not inly
That they saved the project but it seems that they are sticking true to the original concept art which seems like something Disney always has kind of a hard time pulling off. I also like me a good fountain show. Disneys become so generic and like the good old days at Disney this is all going to be new and first time trial and error. I’m actually really exited for this park.

I'm not a Dis only fanatic. Uni ( and other parks, pull me in for thrills and entertainment) So an Epic build is welcomed by me. If they build something Dis wont or cant do then I'll pay to get in and experience it. Unless Dis gets moving, ( so far they dont seem to be bothered) Uni will capture a lot of guests interest and draw them from Dis. The lions share of bucks will probably go Disneys way but the bucks they will miss out on capturing will hurt. The things we are told that will happen at Epic is a cant miss.

It’ll be nice to finally have a new park in the Orlando area again! With so many new offerings, I can’t see how one couldn’t be excited!

Most parks feel pretty empty when they first open, but the concept art seems to put most expansion pads in the back, so it shouldn’t seem that empty from a guest view (hopefully). Overall, lots of new lands and cool IPs that I’m excited to see in a theme park!

But, as it is now, I think Disney and Universal will stay (mostly) different crowds. Universal will definitely pull more families with this more family-oriented park, but it will be interesting to see if one family park is enough to make a trip (the other parks only have one or two lands accessible for children). It’ll also be interesting to see the night-hours feel, because Universal can get a little wild at night (Remember all the curfew rules at City Walk? It got pretty CRAZY at night!).

Disney will still be the go-to for me and my family, but I think that we will stop by Epic Universe a few times to take it all in. And at the end of the day, I think that is the goal of this more family-oriented park. I don’t know if significantly less people will go to WDW, but they might take a day or two off at the beginning or end of their trip to spend at Epic Universe instead. And that’s where we get to the part I’m really excited about. Disney World had pretty much zero competition for a family theme park in Orlando. If your kids weren’t ready for intense VR or rollercoasters, Universal was not a viable alternative. I don’t see one park as a full-on alternative for a vacation, but I do think that they’ll take some market share from Disney with this new park, and I think that it’ll finally give Disney some competition.

I'm mostly anticipating the new Wizarding World and the Mario Kart ride.

I'm also curious to see if they have anything other than really kiddie stuff at the Frisco, TX park.

I'm actually not that excited about most of Epic Universe. The only thing I'm looking forward to is seeing the Monster section. Attraction wise it's made up of mostly coasters and off the shelf rides.
What are the off the shelf rides? It seems to have a lot of custom stuff I thought such as Mario Kart and Donkey Kong. Most coasters will be unique layouts same as Disney.

Off the shelf? That’s not how I’d describe the lineup. Lineup looks very strong

Furthermore the rides will be insignificant compared to the grounds, building facades, interior ride queues, shops, restaurants and park layout. It will out Disney Disney

Epic will be the second most visually stunning park in the world.

Besides the central carousel, I can’t think of any off the shelf ride either… Something can be said for the possible overuse of roller coasters, but then again, it’s one of Universal’s strong points. When mummy works (will they ever bring back the mummy in the coffin scene, AA seemed to be abandoned shortly after refurb), I think it’s (besides the 90s RnR style area) one of my favorite rides of all time! Mummy is just a great story coaster with amazing special effects, and I hope that EU gets some family coasters that are just as good!

The flying ride and the boat ride in How to Train Your Dragon...

Yeah, the Gerstlauer Sky Fly and the Mack Splash Battle are the only 2 off the shelf rides.

The carousel is a custom design patented by Universal.
Do we actually know if the Splash Battle is using an off the shelf layout or is it just the ride system itself? Because a lot of their rides are technically off the shelf in the latter sense. Either way, I'm sure they'll theme it well enough that it's not what people picture when they think "off the shelf."

Definitely looking forward to it. I have high hopes for the Monsters section in particular.

I'm actually not the biggest Harry Potter fan, but I really like how Diagon Alley was done and hope they do just as well with the Paris section.

The only real concern I have is the same I have had with other new lands at both Disney and Univeral. Not enough attention is being paid to fleshing out these areas with more smaller attractions. The A's B's and C's if you will. The E tickets get people in the park, but the smaller attractions keep them happy while they are there, they give people things to do besides wait in line for the big rides.

Pandora and Galaxy's Edge over at Disney are perfect examples of this problem. Two attractions does (or at least should) not a land make.

In a sense with those newer areas and with the Harry Potter stuff the A/B ticket is the land itself, there are almost walkthrough attractions by wandering the smaller parts of the lands.

Now, I admit this is all very premature... but the one attraction I feel is a "miss" in this entire park is the Wolfman coaster. Having a coaster track in the middle of this land seems like a big miss.

I agree, but it's a last-minute addition after they decided to cut the theater. So at least they did something instead of nothing.

It's kind of insane to think we're getting 4 coasters (5 if you count the dueling coaster separately) from the start. I don't think a Disney/Universal Park has ever started with that amount of coasters.

I see that to an extent. But I don't think that is enough. And certainly if that's really the thought, they had better nail it. The Potter lands seem to be holding up, but for many people these really function as one land with the Hogwart's Express connecting the two, which would give it 5 rides + various shows/entertainment.

Pandora over at Disney doesn't seem to really have achieved its goals. It boosted AK for a while, but it has dropped back down to the least attended Disney park, and now the least attended Orlando park. This despite having a huge hit with FoP. Galaxy's Edge seems to have done a bit better, but I highly doubt it has really achieved expectations. Though I'm sure the revenue from the lightsabers and droids has softened the blow.
