the pre-planning has started in my household fo next august. My family always eats at the same places, mainly because there are roughly 30 of us and we have a few picky eaters here and there. And, as much as i like these places(50's, japan, le cellier, hoop dee doo) I really want to try out a new place. We love 50's prime time because of the food AND the experience. I saw little tidbits of video from the whispering canyon... and it looks like SOO much fun.
Im sure people have been there, so i was wondering what you all thought about it? is it as fun as 50's? and will the food there satisfy the few picky eaters?

edit: meant to put this in trip planning.

It's a really fun time...and like 50's Prime Time the experience can vary with your server, and also with as much as your group plays along. As far as food is concerned, it's fairly basic, many people like to do the Canyon Skillet which is all you can eat chicken, ribs, BBQ, shrimp and fixins.

As your vacation time gets closer, check back in and get some tips from folks here as to what you can do or ask (or better have others in your group ask) to get more "responses".

PS....Curious from previous discussions, what school in Central NJ? We're right down the street from TCNJ...

WCC is a great place for a nice quiet undisturbed meal with absolutely no shenanigans whatsoever.

NOT!

WCC is one of the funnest places on property. If you like the atmosphere at 50's Prime Time you will love WCC. The cast members act in in a way that can only be described as a nice kind of rude. To start your meal your straws and napkins will not be placed on the table instead they will be tossed in the air over your table. That will pretty much set the mood for your meal. There are quite a few inside jokes that will go on there that I will keep under my hat as it is a little more fun to find the out on your own. All I can say is God help you if you have a special order.

Out of breakfast, lunch and dinner breakfast seems to be the most rowdy. If you go for breakfast ask for MT as your server. She is an absolute hoot.

Picky eaters will not have a problem. It is the normal breakfast fare with made to order breakfasts as well as my personal favorite the skillet which is an all you can eat eggs, waffles, biscuits, bacon, sausage and potatoes.

i go to middlesex county college. and i actually visit TCNJ quite often cause 2 of my close friends go there!

but as for all the info- thank you all! Ever since i saw a little clip of it on one of those travel channel shows i have been wanting to go. I'll have to tell my mom and some how get the whole family in on it. We love that kind of crazy, loud atmosphere.

The WCC is a must for us. Breakfast skillets are our favorite and lunch and dinner there are also great. Who doesn't love all you can eat BBQ for dinner?

Pony Express races, the clean plate club (don't get caught without an empty dish :lookaroun ) and the general mayhem just add to the experience. Its on the noisy/rowdy side so don't go there if you can't deal with that or have a problem playing along with a joke.

Five stars in my book!

It's absolutely great! Good food and tons of fun!

I must be in the minority here.......I absolutely hated the place. I understand the theme, but our "service" was TERRIBLE.
The waitress, even after we asked, never brought us any drink refills, the food was average at best, and quite honestly, I found the place to be loud and nerveracking.

Not tom mention, they made all of us guys get up and sing "My Buttercup" to the ladies in the restaurant.....I didn't care. But my dad sure was embarrassed.

In all fairness, we had no idea what this place was like. We had arrived a day early and went there on a whim. Luckily (or unluckily), they took us right in......we were extremely hungry.
But, we'll never go back.

We've eaten there several times and have had breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All were great. The breakfast crew seems to be the most rowdy. If you have a sense of humor, it's a wonderful way to start the day. It's especially fun for kids, but adults can have a great time too.

I to was wondering about WCC. My DH saw a picture of the dinner skillet and has wanted to go since. Our trip is next month so should I try to make ADR? I think the place looks like a blast! We loved 50's last year!

Yes, make an ADR. They have become a necessity at all TS restaurants on property.

I've always been more entertained with 50s but WCC is definitely a fun stop. The hearty food is tasty and it's located in one of the neatest resorts, IMO.

It is definitely not a place for shy people or those who do not like loud places. I do not like 50's because of the atmosphere and staff interaction...to each his own. Thats the great thing about WDW, there is something for everyone! The hard part is deciding which is for you. I'm working my way thru the restaurants trying to decide and having a grand time of it too.

A few years ago, I might have said that the Prime Time was better, but I think the service has suffered quite a bit there. The food is still good, but I certainly remember the staff being more corny and 50ish.

Whispering Canyons is as loud as any restaurant as you ever eat in. But its a "must do" as far as I am concerned. The food is good and atmosphere can be chaotic. But if you are with a big group, its a fun place to go. If you are looking for a quiet dinner for 2 or for a quaint family, you better skip this place.

A tip that that I always use when dining here for dinner: do it the day you are thinking to go the Magic Kingdom when it is open late. You can catch the boat from MK over to the Wilderness Lodge right out front of MK. It's maybe a 15 minute ride, granted you get right on the boat and don't have to wait long. Then just take the boat back over. You can always get the bus out front of WL, but boat is a hell of lot easier to fit 30 people on (since you mentioned your group was that big).
